Slated to arrive in late spring, the fifth-generation Lexus retains its conservative design, with a power boost to 245 hp widely predicted in the press. However, with the ES based on the same platform as the new Camry, which boasts 268 hp from its 3.5-liter V6, it's likely that we will see a little more oomph in the ES. Check back for our Chicago Auto Show coverage with full details! |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Spied: 2007 Lexus ES I recon it looks pretty good. The overall heft of the body remains rather unpalatable, but the look is very much in line with the new IS and LS - which is a good thing. Don't care for how the "kickup" is handled on the C-pillar, but the other Lexus styling cues seem to work. |

![]() | Re: Spied: 2007 Lexus ES I barely know what the current ES interior looks like. The whole car was rather unappealing to me. That said, does anyone know where this new ES will be made? Lexus in Australia have made no mention of getting a new ES, and the 'current' one has just been phased out as the Lexus price leader in favour of the IS. In fact, Lexus Australia have been trumpeting that their lineup is now wholly RWD or 4WD, so it seems somewhat unlikely they'll renege and reintroduce a FWD ES so soon. All of which brings me back to the point, could this new 2007 ES be a US domestic market only version? Or is it actually merely a completely rebodied version of the current one? Anyhow, the whole car doesn't look too bad, better than the current ES. The rear window is a little too raked for my liking, in a car with a smallish cabin it makes it look strangely proportioned. Not to mention the 'mass' of the rear sides above the rear wheels. The interior console looks weird with that loopy mess, but other than that, I can see the car doing well enough, where the current ES does satisfactorily (in America at least). |

![]() ![]() | Re: Spied: 2007 Lexus ES The rear lights look so Asian... it's a mix of Kia, Toyota and something else. Totally unattractive to me. Front looks ok though. |
