![]() ![]() | Re: Lexus LS 460/LS 460h I think the S-class is much prettier and endlessly more elegant. Well at least in the pictures. Your right Merc1, the Lexus does come across as a blown up IS, and is somwhat slab sided. The S-class I believe will prove to be the more interesting and appealing design in the long run. While Lexus has made a big leap when it comes to proportions of the vehicle, when it comes to the more subtle design elements (Body contours, mouldings, creases, shutlines...all the little details) they still seem to be a generation or more behind. Still I can't wait to see these two vehicles side by side in the metal. Last edited by Mr. Mercedes; 10-19-2005 at 08:14 AM.. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Lexus LS 460/LS 460h thanks to this pic... I like the car, at least from this angle. As for the comparo in design to the new S and 7, there is no comparo, this car actually has it's own original styling. It's absolutely absurd to start comparing one cars design to another, it's all be done before so there's no doubt that you'll find similiarities in different design elements. ![]() |

![]() | Re: Lexus LS 460/LS 460h I don't think that calling it copying is right. Then again, there are certainly similarities though. For the most part, Lexus is somehow developing its own design language, so the slab-sidedness is, in a way, intentional I believe. Just look at the new GS and IS. Then again, I wish they had gone a bit further with the design. It does look a bit like a giant IS. The proportions are ok, but various details and forms leave me a little uninspired, whereas on a smaller car like the IS, everything looks attractive. A larger car for a different audience needs different treatment, whether you're looking to shake the 'old person's car' image or not. |

![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Lexus LS 460/LS 460h look at the line going from the five rear wheel well to the tail light and the line going from the 5 front wheel well going to the head light. I think thats a huge copy. Thats pretty blatant if you ask me. |

If so, that's not copying, that's just standard engineering practice. It's similar on all cars, and it's rather a banal aspect to be calling copycat on. | |
