R&T: Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X vs. Subaru Impreza WRX STI

The performance war between the top-line Subaru Impreza WRX and Mitsubishi Lancer Evo rages on.

June 2007

Say what you want about compact Japanese sports sedans, but the fact is they represent the best bang for the buck in the marketplace today. And they've quickly developed a loyal following from a new generation of car enthusiasts who appreciate their style, performance and affordability. Two cars that have defined this segment, the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution and Subaru Impreza WRX STI, are poised to take their game to the next level, extending their rivalry. While details about the all-new versions of these machines remain sketchy, we've uncovered a bagful of information that'll give you a good idea of what to expect when they hit their respective dealerships in early 2008.

The STi version looks better than expected, it looks just as aggressive as the EVO X. How can R&T get photos of the STi version when it isn't offically released?

I think it's a photoshop Monster - using the current WRX as the basis.

Still, I think you're right, if it looks like that (which is probably close as dammit) then it's right up there with the Mitsu in the looks department.

Tasty!

Probably one of the best car PS i have seen. After a closer look the STi has tiny brakes, so i think this is a PS picture.

Man, how can you see the brakes on STi? I can see them on Mitsu, but definitely NOT on STi...

you can just see them in this photo, the brakes are tiny and STi versions usually come with Brembo standard, so this photo is a fake, unless the Brembos are not standard anymore

its all good. I got tricked the 1st time because usually in PS photos, they don't really bother to change the details in the car reflection on the road, but these PS are good.
