Limited edition Subaru Liberty/Legacy GT, tuned by STi, the best looking Subaru in the entire range. It has all the goodies like :
  • An upgraded ECU producing 194kW of power at 6000rpm, up 10kW.
  • Torque increased 11Nm to 350Nm, kicking in earlier at 2800rpm.
  • Manual variants feature a six-speed STI short shift gear lever, while automatics have a revised transmission control unit (TCU) producing a faster, sportier response.
  • 18 inch STI ENKEI lightweight alloy wheels with Pirelli P-Zero Rosso tyres, increase road feel and provide ultimate grip, particularly in wet conditions.
  • Bilstein sports tuned dampers matched to STI lowered springs, result in a firmer, sportier ride with improved handling.
  • Pillow-ball bush suspension components by STI improve steering response, ride and handling.
  • STI Brembo performance brake upgrade reduces brake fade and maximise stopping power.
  • Two STI twin tip sports mufflers enhance exhaust flow, providing better turbo response and a sportier sound.
  • Exterior upgrades include an STI front lip spoiler, with unique model badging.

I really want this car, or bits of this car, stuff like the brembo brakes and the STi front lip spoiler will go nicely on my car.

Thanks, monster!

They are definitely a blast to drive, i have discovered more and more of my liberty's ability after a few late night blast around the streets. These cars have massive amount of grip, good body control, and the steering is wonderfully sharp and accurate, although it feels a bit light at low speed. You can feel there is a connection between the steering wheel and the front wheels, unlike some japanese cars.

The only problem i have with the current Liberty is that the standard brakes are not very good, so this STi version has probably eliminate the only dynamic flaw of the car.

Re: Subaru Liberty GT STI

Legacy is a car that I'm closely acquainted with and a huge fan of. This thing just takes it to a new level of desirability. The dynamic ability of the Legacy is just one of those "secrets" that doesn't get out in regular press and the car's reputation from that perspective is largely anonymous.

But for those in the know... Legacy is a fabulously rewarding car to drive. This will just raise the bar higher. Gimme an STi tuned Wagon and I'd be as pleased as punch. Too bad about the fuel consumption mind you...

Yeah fuel consumption can get really scary, my one regularly consumes more than 16L/100km, i am guessing this STi version will use close to or more then 17L/100km.

Re: Subaru Liberty GT STI

what is subaru doing? while the corolla look-alike impreza was a major let down and now this, simply the hottest sedan from japan (yes beating in desirability the entire lexus/infiniti range) i just wish they had done a better job with impreza.

I completely agree with you! You cannot believe that those are the cars from the same brand...
