Subaru Exhibition outlines of the 39th Tokyo Motor Show 2005

Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd. (FHI), a global manufacturer of transportation and aerospace-related products and the maker of Subaru automobiles, today announced the major features of its vehicles and technologies, which will be exhibited at the 39th Tokyo Motor Show 2005, which will open its doors to the public in Makuhari Messe, Chiba from October 19 to November 6.

With the key word “Think. Feel. Drive. - Creating new value through the crossover concept”, Subaru’s core message is to appeal a car that realizes pleasurable driving, very high safety and excellent environmental performance. In the booth, the concept car “B5-TPH” which equipped with original hybrid system “Turbo parallel hybrid (TPH)”, technology exhibit “IVX-II” next generation of intelligent vehicle which ensuring driving pleasure, comfort, and advanced safety, and new crossover vehicle “B9 TRIBECA” (US model) will be exhibited. By exhibiting these vehicles, Subaru will appeal the new areas of driving pleasure and new functions by integrating the different values.

Well, how's that for all the Subaru fans out there?

I'm not sure about that cream coloured B5-TPH concept. But the 'aeroplane' design is less in-your-face, which is good. I've never been keen on freeform curved designs though, I prefer strong dynamic lines as per the current Liberty and also Audi.

The Blitzen 2006 is odd. The grille reminds me of the Fiat Croma. That said, the part below the grille is nice enough.

Martin, how's about that Forester Edge? I personally quite like the Outback Edge. They both look pretty decent. Hope they make it here - the text doesn't have much to say about it, but it'll probably come as a special edition.

Can't believe I missed this thread...

B, I don't really mind the Edge treatment on the Outback, though I'm not too sure that it works on the Forester. Who'd've thought that a Forrie would end up all bling like that with chromed Outback 17" wheels.

Love that Legacy Blitzen.

I think the B5 is an unremarkable concept with very old fashioned lines personally... ugh. Another Subaru concept nightmare. Let's hope this isn't a preview of anything we ought to expect from Impreza 3.

Yeah, the Outback version is a lot better. I actually missed the old Outback with the grey plastic - which 'toughened' the car. This newest Liberty with its mostly painted body (in Australia at least - I've peeked at the Subaru America site and they get more grey plastic) looks a little odd. On this Edge version, the front bash plate looking object gives it a bit of width and purpose. Iffy about the 'alloy' mirrors, though; and yeah, the chrome wheels aren't that good.

Saw a Volvo XC90 with chrome spinners today. Ugh.

As for that Legacy Blitzen, I like it except for the grille. I like the optional Subaru 'sports' grille for the Legacy - I believe it's egg crate mesh without the horizontal bars.

That B5 has me worried, though. I'm not that confident anymore, after the Tribeca's release..
