Zaha Hadid was born in Iraq in 1950, she lives and works in London. It took Hadid many years before somebody was finally brave enough to actually commission and construct one of her radical buildings - that was the a private fire station built in 1993 for Vitra, a Swiss office furniture manufacturer at their factory in Germany. Since then she has become world renowned and is currently one of the superstars of contemporary international architecture.
