The price for a Big Mac is €3.60 ($4.34) in Finland. It's no wonder the only people who come here for "inexpensive shopping" are Norwegians (OK, the Swedes who live near the border come here for "cheap" booze but that's a different matter).

Re: Worlds most expensive cities

Actually, i don't know if 3.60eur. is much, since i have never bought anything from McDonalds. I prefer Goody's, a greek company, when it comes to fast food. But most of the time, i cook.

McDonalds is awful IMO. Pretty much every other fast food place has better burgers than they do.

Re: Worlds most expensive cities

Well, I think I visited McDonalds exactly two times last year. Anyway, the prices in other hamburger joints are more or less on the same level, and the Big Mac index is generally considered a nice indicator of price levels and purchasing power in different places. (Or, in the case of The Economist, the over/undervaluation of currencies.)
Here's the latest:

Too bad they've summed up the Euro area as one, it's not like the prices are the same all over.

I realize that we are talking about the cost of living but what was scary in that list was the number of countries that McDonalds has spread to. Pretty soon we'll have a world full of folks with heart ailments and like illnesses on a massive scale.

Re: Worlds most expensive cities

What's the beef with Maccas? Burgers don't make people overweight, people make people overweight, to rephrase a saying. Eating in moderation and with some sort of exercise (or a fast metabolism) makes it pretty alright.

I like Maccas because they have reasonably decent tasting stuff, reasonable prices and I know what I'm getting. I don't eat it more than once a week though. At lunch, sometimes I don't have a lot of time, but for dinner, I like to cook my own food.

Subway wins McDonald's hands down. Number eight with cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, pickels and south-western sauce is just mind-blowing.
