Lex Customers Favour Golf

Lex Vehicle Leasing has announced that the Volkswagen Golf was the most popular car on its 178,000-strong fleet in 2005. If this story sounds familiar, it's because the Golf (pictured below) was also number one for Lex in 2004, and in fact this is the first time the same car has reached that position two years running.

The next cars on the list - the Vauxhall Astra (below), BMW 3-Series, Volkswagen Passat, Honda Accord and Vauxhall Vectra - have all improved on their 2004 positions, while the Saab 9-3 and Audi A4 (at 7th and 10th respectively) have not previous made the top ten list.

Britain's best-selling car, the Ford Focus has dropped from 2nd to 8th, while the Honda Civic has moved up a place to 9th.

"Drivers are constantly re-evaluating the make and model of car they drive based on its tax and mpg performance," says Lex Vehicle Leasing's Head of Communications, Peter Knights, "which is why it;s interesting to see the same car take top position for the second year running.

Vauxhall Astra 50 - Sport Hatch.

"The appearance of the Saab 9-3 and Audi A4 for the first time also reinforces the fact that companies are making their car choice lists more flexible, which spells good news for all drivers."
