HOT GOLF FOR HOT SHOW: The P-cubed Mean Machine Makeover GTi is undergoing final assembly before going on show this weekend at the Extreme Auto Show in Johannesburg on Thursday.
Hot Golf for Jozi Extreme Auto Show

April 25, 2007

The finishing touches are being made to a R300 000 Sportech customisation job to complete what is creators claim will be the ultimate Golf5 GTi.

The P-cubed Mean Machine Makeover GTi is undergoing final assembly before it is driven (carefully) to the Castrol Extreme Auto Show at Johannesburg's Coca-Cola Dome on Thursday.

The low-slung, black and gunmetal machine will be the centrepiece on the Mean Machine Makeover stand (D9-12) at South Africa’s premier hot-car emporium and will showcase Sportech as a supplier of aftermarket products and services.

Sportech has raised the output of the two-litre, turbocharged FSI engine from 250 to 280kW to create what is says is the fastest Golf5 in the southern hemisphere

The bad news is that the components have not yet been air-freighted from leading Volkswagen tuners APR in Alabama, USA, and will not be ready in time for Castrol Extreme, which opens its doors to the public on Friday.

In fact, the Stage III upgrade will necessitate some major internal changes, including the fitment of upgraded con rods to help the engine cope with 1.2 Bar of boost pressure. An even larger KKK turbocharger and appropriate software upgrade form part of the package.

But many of the other special systems fitted to the car have been successfully tested this week. The in-car entertainment system has been tweaked and is pumping out a solid 140dB of top quality sound, while the mobile communications suite from Nashua Mobile has proved itself more than capable of linking to the internet at speed.

A recent development in this regard are Bluetooth wireless keyboards, courtesy of Hewlett-Packard, which gives rear passengers the option of surfing the internet on the seven-inch screens fitted into the front head restraints rather than on the pair of HP laptops in a custom-built console between the individual rear seats.

To sum up, the P-cubed GTi as displayed at the Castrol Extreme Show will feature:

Caractere aerodynamic body kit.
Eibach Pro-street adjustable coil-over suspension, lowering the car by 40 mm.
Sportech eight-piston front brake callipers with 368mm discs.
19x8.5J J Kahn alloy rims.
235/35 high-performance tyres.
73mm stainless-steel performance exhaust.
Aerospace-grade carbon-fibre Carbonio air intake.
Carbon fibre-effect leather for the seats and steering wheel.
1400W of Rockford Fosgate/Phase Linear audio.
The slinkiest, sexiest showgirls on the planet!

The car will be at the Castrol Extreme Show this long weekend.

-ITS A ONCE OFF SHOWN AT A SOUTH AFRICAN SHOW, AND CAN BE ORDERED!!!!
