Re: Teaser Pics of 2008 Golf Mk4 (South America)

It looks good, I especially like the power upgrade... I wonder if this upgrade is available for other models using the 1.8T. It now makes almost as much power as the 2.0TFSI!

BTW, is the Mk5 Golf sold in Brazil?

One has to ask why they build the Mk4 ....why not the Mk5?

Cost savings by parts sharing of old VW extras... Like how they built the B5.5 Passat at China today.

Re: Teaser Pics of 2008 Golf Mk4 (South America)

Reinvention of the same car is a main rule for every manufacturer to survive in an Emerging market like Brazil for instance.

The old Volkswagen Kombinationfahrzeug still is built in Brazil since 1957. It's the oldest car still in production in Brazil.

What you looking at the pic above ladies and gentlemen, it's a brand new 2007 VW Van.

In 2005, Volkswagen replaced the old Air-cooled boxer 1.6 Fuel Injection petrol engine with a brand new 1.4 Fuel Injection WATER-COOLED FlexFuel engine which can run on Alcohol or Petrol. The Kombi still doesn't have Aira-Bags or ABS, though.

Brazilians can't afford a new car every two or three years, so manufacturers have to make the same car with little or no change for long period of time. And even when they do change, they change it on a budget, so that means very little changes.

The Golf MK4 was launched in Brazil in 1999 and finally after EIGHT years VW do Brasil will finally give the Golf MK4 a face-lift. Mind you, the Golf is currently one of the most overpriced cars built in Brazil.

Cars are very expensive in Brazil and the average Brazilian wage is not compatible with the way the manufacturers often hike the prices out there.

Did you know the best selling car in Brazil is actually a VeeDub?

The VW Gol (sold in Mexico as the VW Pointer) is the best selling car in Brazil in the last 20 years.
