Are there any plans for an even hotter VW Jetta?

So far, the hottest Jetta on sale is the GLI (below) which got the same 2.0 16V Turbo FSI 200 Bhp engine from the Golf GTI.

I want to know, if Volkswagen have plans for a "Jetta R32"? Or something like a "R-GLI" powered by a turbocharged variant of the 2.5 I-5 20V and 4WD perhaps?

If there was an R Jetta I think it would be exclusive to US Market Only.

VW at the moment don't build 4Motion vehicles in Puebla, Mexico so I don't see it on the horizon just yet

Re: Are there any plans for an even hotter VW Jetta?

In Europe, it would be highly unlikely that VW would offer anything beyond the 2.0 TFSI (200HP) under the Jettas´ hood. As opposed to North America, the Jetta is not an extremely popular car in Europe. In fact, in the German speaking parts of Europe, Jettas are actually rare sightings and are considered "pensioners" cars. Most have VWs´ 1.6 engines in their bays, the 102HP or 115HP FSI versions.

Not that there is anything wrong with that, mind you. I actually find the Jetta a quite handsome car. Better looking than the Passat, for example.

Re: Are there any plans for an even hotter VW Jetta?

Oh such a shame Volkswagen can't be bothered giving it a try, by making 4 Motion models in Mexico. That means, they could build the R32 in Mexico and therefore sell it for a cheaper price.

Unfortunately all booted versions of the Golf are perceived as pensioner's car in Europe. That said, however, you call me crazy if you like, but I always liked the Saloon variants of the Golf. I loved the old Vento VR6.

I would fancy a R32 version of the Jetta - that would be a lovely Q car.

P.S: Am I the only one who actually did care about the old VW Bora?

Is it just me or does the Bora really is a good looking car?

The Bora VR6 4Motion was a poor man's Audi S4, I reckon.

Re: Are there any plans for an even hotter VW Jetta?

Actually there are parts of Europe where small sedans/saloons don't have an image problem and are typically more popular than their hatchback counterparts, including some Mediterranean countries, most of Eastern Europe and Finland. That said, in Finland the Golf has traditionally outsold the Vento/Bora/Jetta because the extremely popular wagon version has been sold as Golf.
