Should be great! ... and I guess this time you can take pics from on top of those gorgeous mountains rather than at the base of them!

Congratulations on the new car..yet sorry to hear about the paint debackle. I would hate it if I couldn't get the colour I wanted coz I'd have that little bit of empty feeling everytime I'd open the garage and see my car. ..But hey, can't complain about a fully loaded MB!!

Thanks...the Black was my first choice and then changed to Red, so maybe MB wanted me to have the Black one...:-))

OT: NevadaJack, I know you chose the diesel and its great you did so considering diesel is an extremely good option nowadays but if your going to be travelling what do you think the availability of diesel will be in USA since they just started selling them? Everywhere else in the world you get them at all stations but whats the situation like Stateside?

Diesel fuel is pretty common across the country. I have a diesel station less than 1/2 mile away. There are others all over the city. The highways all have diesel available, if not at the regular stations, at truck stops. I really don't anticipate any problems finding diesel fuel and it didn't enter my decision making process.

Just curious... did you ever consider anything other than MB?

Did you evaluate the Q7, or the Range Rover or maybe any of the myriad of large SUV's from US & Japanese manufacturers?

Just curious.. not implying you're a blind MB fan.

I investigated the field and each had it's own good and bad points. I liked the RR very much but stylewise (inside and out) it did nothing for me. I did ignore the Lexus and other Japanese makers. I looked very closely at the new X5 but do just not like the exterior design. The Q7 is nice but again I don't like the lines and the interior though great quality is not my style.

So, yes I did look at the competition but none had a US diesel model and that was the most important feature I was looking for. I have had diesel wagons before (MB) and loved them. So as a total package the GL was the best of the bunch. Of course there may be a little leaning to MB since I have driven them for 30 years...:-)
