![]() ![]() | Re: Next Generation G-Class If it looks like that, than its good. The side profile at least is very very attractive. The front a bit too similar to the ML, but those headlights are a nice touch. But the same interior as the ML...ERR NO. It obviously needs to move upmarket more to reflect its higher standing and premium price. It simply cant compare to the Range Rover interior. And from the pictures, the Q7's interior is looking pretty damn good as well.Last edited by Mr. Mercedes; 10-20-2005 at 06:53 PM. |

![]() ![]() | Re: Next Generation G-Class Those are official and I think it looks great. Profile looks stunning and the front looks good, and I really like the rear lights.... I do wish the interior was different, but it does save mb some good amount of money doing the same ML interior. |

In the US, the G class is a status symbol for people who want to upstage their neigbour's ML - the G class has been sold in Europe for 26 years for god sake, it is ancient, and if MB don't replace it now they will be going against their own core values - it is time for the G to be replaced - I'm sorry if the Americans have only just discovered it, but it was around when the original golf was on sale - that is now considerred a classic car. |

![]() | Re: Next Generation G-Class I hope NSL is correct that this is an extension to the SUV line. This car does look distinctly un-militaristic. The G-Class was designed as a military workhorse. It's used all across the world. The new spy pictures look like a supermarket SUV soccer mums would drive. I love the old G-Class. The box share and straight pillars were in a way attractive. The design is dated, but proven. Range Rover met some resistance when it redesigned their Classic model, but their lineup today is arguably better than ever. Interestingly, the military variation of the Rover, the Defender 90 and 110, have not been extensively overhauled. Those vehicles still maintain the look of a military truck. I'd like to see an evolution of the G-Class, not a revolution. I especially love the G500 Guard. It's one of my favourite vehicles in the Benz lineup. |

As for being a soccer moms vehicle, sadly that is precisely what the G class has become in the US. |
