Alonso put in very fast laps, at the first pit stop when MS went around 5 laps more than Alonso, it looked like he could beat him, but it didn't work out, although it did take Fisch! Kimi made an amazing start, going from P9 to P5! |

![]() | Re: Spanish GP If Schu doesn't close the gap to less than 15 pts. after Montreal, it's likely over. The driver's champ was clinched after Australia. I say it again, the points system rewards early-year reliability. A 10, 15 pt. gap is very difficult to make up even with several wins. |

If Alsonso crashes out and MS takes the lead, then the two drivers would be very close, the championship is still very muich in the air! Also Mclaren haven't shown their full potental yet, and I hope they will become faster! Also Honda must surely get some good luck soon, they have a very fast car underneath them! |

![]() | Re: Spanish GP I didn't say it was over immediately, BMW_Dude. I think the gap has to be below 15 after Canada and if it's not, then it's over. There are 9 races after Canada and if the gap is, say, 17, based on the points alone, Schu must win all 9 with Alonso 2nd for Schu to win the WDC. Think about that! Schu could have 11 wins and lose the WDC to someone with 4 or 5 wins! Alonso has a reliable car and doesn't have to push hard because he has a double-digit lead. The silly points system rewards second place so he won't have to be on the limit and risk a crash. As for Mclaren and Honda having fast cars with no luck, well, we've heard that for years! I don't see them challenging for wins. If Alonso does crash, it has to be Massa taking him out.. The 10-8-6 scoring can lead to championships being won by mid-season although it was designed (probably by accountants and marketing louts who know nothing about racing) to prevent runaways. 10-8-6 means the early leader with good reliability can't aggressively be caught in the points table! That DNF is Oz GP probably wrecks Schu's season. Last edited by 450SEL6.9; 05-15-2006 at 11:48 AM. |
