| Flav targeting Schuey for 2007 ![]() Rumours linking Michael Schumacher with a move to Renault in 2007 continue to circulate after the German’s manager Willi Weber confirmed that he has been approached by team boss Flavio Briatore. Schumacher’s future has been in question for some time as his Ferrari contract runs out at the end of this season. The 37-year-old German has publicly stated on several occasions that he will wait until the summer before deciding whether to retire from the sport or not. Sources at Ferrari claim he is close to re-signing with the Maranello team, but it now appears that Briatore, his former boss at Benetton, is set to pitch for the seven-time world champion’s services. Renault needs a top-line replacement for departing superstar Fernando Alonso, and Briatore is believed to favour a partnership between Schumacher and Finnish youngster Heikki Kovalainen. Weber told Germany’s Bild newspaper: “We [Weber and Briatore] have known each other for a long time already and we talk together a lot. “Flavio told me to talk to him if Michael decides to continue racing and before he signs for Ferrari. “He would probably have an interest. “I clearly said to Flavio that we won’t talk with anybody before Michael decides if he will continue racing or not and it is only right that we speak with Ferrari first.” Schumacher himself played down the speculation. "It's always the same – I will not comment on rumours," he said. "There will always be someone who makes more out of what I have said." Source = ITV F1 |

| Re: Flav targeting Schuey for 2007 A British newspaper is reporting Schu has signed a two-year GBP 60 million deal that will take him until 2009. He says he will have a decision by next month according to another source. Sadly, I think it looks as though he's staying at the Scuderia to tarnish his legacy by racing as an over-the-hill mid-field driver. |
