Fernando Alonso in Indianapolis shunned speculation that his next destination in pitlane will be Ferrari. The Italian sports newspapers La Gazzetta dello Sport and Corriere dello Sport reported in unison that the reigning world champion does not intend to put up with the current atmosphere at McLaren and is already making eyes at F1's Maranello based team. Alonso, who "sees red", according to La Gazzetta, has a multi-year McLaren contract until minimally 2008. He responded on Thursday, "I am not going to waste time talking about rumours that come from the speculations of the press. I am not going to play their game." The 25-year-old also rejected headlines revealing "civil war" with his team and rookie teammate Lewis Hamilton. "I have never said anything that is against the team," Alonso told Spanish reporters. "All I said is that I do not feel totally comfortable, and this is normal. If there is a problem then it must have began in Monaco, when my teammate said something that ended up with an investigation of the FIA," he said. ![]()

Re: McLaren 'civil war' brewing If he goes anywhere it should be Renault. But I do belive Alonso for would have been the man to replace Schumacher, since both are similar downright identical in some ways/certain areas.

Re: McLaren 'civil war' brewing At Ferrari it would be the last place I'd want Alonso. And he said he'd never go for the reds. He should have stayed at Renault and help them thru the transition to BS tires. Ferrari would have won this year, and Alonso/Renault would have been back on their feet in 2008.

Re: McLaren 'civil war' brewing That's sort of what I meant. And I agree, Alonso should've stayed at Renault, Kimi at McLaren, Schumi at Ferrari and Michelin should've stayed as a tire supplier. We could go on for ages on how things should be:P

Re: McLaren 'civil war' brewing i think its impossible today to have 2 superb drivers on 1 team.. you always have to have that second driver..that takes orders from the pit..and slows the traffic down to let the other one gain points.. more or less a barrichello .. its kinda sad..

Re: McLaren 'civil war' brewing Artist, even if you give them equal shots, there will be sides on the teams. In the Senna - Prost battle, Gordon Murray and the hole Honda staff sided with Senna. At one point Senna got 3,4 times more mencanics/engineers to work on his car them Prost.
