Never, he choosed Raiko of course for his speed but also because he never bashes his team just like michael.

Nope.

Montezemolo brought Raikkonen, not Todt, and his son brought Massa.

Raikkonen isn't a workaholic package like Schumacher/Alonso, witch is what Todt likes/wants.

Are you referring to businessf1's shitty article when you say it's montzemolo who choosed raiko ?? And may be alonso is a great developper but that's the case of massa and i maintain what i said, alonso is too big mouth for todt's taste, the frenchman him self says it: at the very beginning of their reflexion to replace MS, alonso was simply a name among others but it disappeared very very quickly while the raiko name became an evidence. Super fast and super humble.

Re: McLaren 'civil war' brewing

1. PR talk from Todt.

2. Montezemolo has the ultimate power to chose. He was very close to firing Schumi and some of his acolites in 99.

This is what some shitty mag like businessf1 said, may be it's true but i don't trust them. neither montzemolo nor todt wants alonso. here is a another proof from today:

Quote:
Jean Todt in Indianapolis poured cold water on rumours that Fernando Alonso might break his McLaren contract and find refuge in F1's famous Italian camp.

The Ferrari boss, in an interview with La Gazzetta dello Sport, responded to speculation that Spaniard Alonso, frustrated with his situation alongside Lewis Hamilton in 2007, had already started to make eyes at the Prancing Horse.

Todt said Alonso is a "great driver" but insists that Ferrari is not on the driver market.

"There were some contacts (with Alonso) in the past, but nothing became of it. Plus, our drivers - who are very good - are only 26 and 27 years old ...

"The day will come when I leave and some others make the decisions that I do now. But I do not believe that Alonso will drive for Ferrari under Jean Todt," he said.

The 60-year-old Frenchman also played down Kimi Raikkonen's struggle to get up to speed this year, reminding the Italian sports daily that the Finn achieved "pole and victory" on his first attempt in a red car.

Todt added: "And after three grands prix he led the world championship. In Monaco he would have been up there without his error in qualifying, and Montreal was a lottery."

He refused to say if he thought Michael Schumacher would be doing a better job, explaining only that the seven time world champion "stopped and we respect that".

But "if he had wanted to drive on for three more years, he would have been able to do it!"

Re: McLaren 'civil war' brewing

That proves what ?!

Gazzetta = italian press + PR talk.

Todt would have had it easier to make Alonso to stop talking than stop Kimi from partying/drinking and getting him to work.

Look at Ferrari's history, they outsted almost every one of their WDCs (who wasn't killed) Hawthorn, Hill, Lauda, Scheckter ...

Politics, always was and always will be a part of Ferrari.

Raikonnen has a bad technical baggage but he's not lazy, at least not at ferrari because he's the driver who run the most during the winter testing & yes he's a guy who loves drinking but he's far from being the crazy alcoholic described by the cheap tabloids & mags.

1/This proves nothing.
2/Lauda simply left earlier than expected.

Re: McLaren 'civil war' brewing

Lauda was outsted.

And they brought the crash-o-holic Villeneuve just to prove the old belief that it's the Ferrari car that counts/win not the driver.

Kimi could drive 10 more than everyone else. But this won't mean the mecanics/engineer will get much from him. He's not the man to diagnosticate, provide input or solutions to engineers. And for moral boost, ughmn ...

Let's just agree to disagree.

C.Charles will become famous soon enough
Re: McLaren 'civil war' brewing

I'd hate to see him at Ferrari... Aguri would be better for Alonso.
