Wrong on both accounts. First. Tough McLaren has a more let them at it menthality, there was favoritism. From late 88 Senna was favorised over Prost. Gordon Murray and the hole Honda staff were behind Senna. By 89 Prost he got 3 or 4 mecanics while Senna 12 or so. (sorry my friend to ruin your hopes) Second. The other main difference is that Alonso is working his @ss of on the car to test it, give input and develope it. Not that Hamy is a slaker like Montoya and Kimi last year, but he the lack knowledge and experience. McLaren lost in 2006 a lot of people, including A. Wurz their tester/input/car developer, and with the 2 slacker drivers an overburden de la Rossa wasn't up to the task. (hint; why do you think Williams hired Wurz, cause it's not for his driving skills) With all the personal loss McLaren endured last year (Newey, Wurz) and without Alonso, they simply wouldn't have had a winning car right now, just a car with potential. Third. There should be a rule ... F1 drivers should not be allowed to bitch moan and whine... Cause *** are they doing in F1 in the first place ?! It's not a hollyday...

My point is there was, is and will be favoritism in F1 even at let them at it teams. Unless you change human nature that won't change. People will take sides. It depends who's side is bigger and more powerfull/influential. Quote:
You simply cannot build a car without input and test, nor can you ever stand still. Alonso is a package, he got to McLaren to replace both Raikkonen and Wurz as well as others. Also you don't seem to understand certain things. After CAD/CAM phase a car is either crap or it has potential, tough it depends how much potential. Without the likes of Alonso, Wurz, Heidfeld or the late Schumacher you cannot reach and exploitate a car's potential, nor improve it. A package is not a person who just drives the car. Schumacher was said to have had the best car, slightly wrong, he developed the best car. He represents the very incarnation of the package, tough he certainatly wasn't the first. Alonso is also a package and won 2 WDC with Schumacher on the field. At the opposite to packages are/were the likes of Mansell, Montoya, Raikkonen. Hamilton has a long way to go, and I don't by all this hype nonsense for many reasons.

![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Alonso not 100% comfortable at McLaren You're right, of what it should be but ... Once drivers were forced to give their car to their team mates, race victories were decided by flipping coins, some drivers were veto out by their team mates, others got their cars arranged by the team mecanics to brake during the race if they didn't follow the the team orders, others were under phsycological warfare from they team mates for different reasons (class, etc.). This ain't no inocent fairy tale, THIS IS FORMULA 1. (and those in it should now what to expect and not bitch about it.) There, short and clear. We're done. ![]() |

You're really asking too much, Tycoon. Favoritism is a fact of life in any environment. It's not limited to F1. You can be a scientist in Antarctica studying penguins and you'll still have your favorite penguin. You could be an aid worker in Africa and you'll still have a favorite needy child. Well said. Even Dr. Evil can't change human nature. So there will always be favoritism in everything in the world, let alone something as elite as F1.
