Mclarens new front wing design

Interesting design, wonder if it works, sometimes radical looking desigsn have minimal to no benefits, remember the FW26, or the front wings of the Ferrari F2005. Since the new wing has no middle support, the stress on that carbon piece must be massive, and it will be very hard to stop the wing from flexing at speed .

Saw that yesterday. It's easy to see some upsides to it as it increases the area of the front wings. But aerodynamics are more compliccated than that. Will be interesting to see what the result of this will be.

yeah it came out yesterday, didn't get a chance to take a look at it until tonight, cause i spent the past 2 days living in the computer labs which has no internet access. The wing angle is aggressive at both ends of the wing, the middle section looks relatively flat. It looks like its main function is to condition the air flow towards the rest of the car, while generating slight downforce.

Looks weird, I suppose considering the strict rules on where things can be, teams may come up with inventive solutions!

FIA is just stupid,it's banning everything that gave F1 the edge.

Well it's an interesting design. I'm no expert but I guess that the frontal downfoce it adds might cause unnecessary drag/turbulance over the front nose to the midsection. Just my theory but I guess this will pay off in some races and not in others.
