![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Heidfeld: BMW is the third fastest car Nick Heidfeld is confident BMW can maintain its elevated form through the Malaysian Grand Prix after emerging third in the pecking order following the season-opener in Melbourne. Heidfeld finished fourth in Australia, but after another successful test in Malaysia last week, he believes that BMW will once again be snapping at Ferrari and McLaren's heels in Sepang this weekend. "Some people believe that Melbourne is a very strange circuit and probably will mix up things for here but honestly I don't think so because testing saw a similar pace for everyone as in Melbourne," he said. "Testing also showed the same level and we are getting some new parts and hopefully we will finish with both cars - that has been our main concern with Robert not finishing in Melbourne. "But we have tried some new parts and we should be okay." Heidfeld added that he believed his team were now ahead of world champion team Renault in F1's current heirachy. "After Melbourne, I would say we are in third position, which is actually a little bit better than I expected after testing," he said. "I hoped we would be there, but honestly I expected Renault to be a little bit stronger probably they will become stronger for the rest of the season, but we are working very hard to close the gap to the front. "McLaren is not that far away, but for anyone to catch Ferrari it will be quite difficult. "I know, it's a long season, but we will give it our best." Source = ITV F1 |
