Whom ever was going to join Alonso as a team mate was going to be second no question about it. Hamilton if the conditions are proper will be allowed to go ahead and win/whatever. Even Hamilton said it will take time till he'll challenge for WDC. In the meanwhile he'll have to impove his long stint pace and learn from Alonso on car setup, testing & developement and strategy. Hamilton is great but he's gonna have a lot to learn. Quote:

![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: The Malaysian GP Massa defends his Malaysia performance Wednesday 11th April 2007 - ONLY REGISTERED AND ACTIVATED USERS CAN SEE ALL LINKS - CLICK HERE TO REGISTER ![]() Felipe Massa has defended his under-fire performance at the Malaysian GP - and claimed his only mistake was letting Lewis Hamilton pass him at the start of the race. The Brazilian endured a nightmare afternoon in Sepang on Sunday, making a slow start off the grid, sliding off the track as he attempted to pass Lewis Hamilton and then getting stuck behind the BMW of Nick Heidfeld to finish in a lowly fifth position. It was the Ferrari driver's attempt to pass Hamilton which drew the most censure, not least because the rookie McLaren driver claimed in his post-race press conference to have "tricked" Massa into "out-braking himself." Massa, however, insists he was right to challenge Hamilton. "The only certainty I had was that, having lost position to Fernando [Alonso] and to Lewis, I knew that if I did not pass Lewis as soon as possible, my race was effectively over," he told his official Ferrari blog. "The best I could have finished would have been third at that point. With me due to refuel on lap 17 and Lewis three laps later, I would never have overtaken him in the run of pit stops and so the only course open to me was to try and pass him on the track. "That is why I said to myself that I did not want to sit behind him, looking at the back of a McLaren for the whole race! "If people accuse me of making mistake, I say, yes I did make a mistake, because otherwise I would have been ahead of him. But, I am not disappointed that I tried to pass him. You have to try in life and if tomorrow I am in the same position, I would try again. Hopefully, I would get past this time! I know it can seem different from outside the car, but from inside the car, with the information we had, what I tried to do was the right thing. "We can always learn from our mistakes, but now I want to look ahead to the next race, after the disappointment of the past two Grands Prix. But I will only carry with me the positive things, like the fact I took pole position." However, Massa indicated that Ferrari remain unclear why they suddenly lost pace compared to the McLarens in Malaysia. "We were quick on Friday, I took pole on Saturday but we did not have a good race pace on Sunday. Why? To be honest we are not exactly sure. "Some of it came from elements of the car set-up and parts we used in the race, but what is clear is that McLaren had made a good step forward. "But our race pace was not a fair reflection of what it could have been and what it is supposed to be, because both me and Kimi were stuck in traffic for a lot of the race. "I cannot say if our real pace would have matched the McLarens, but I know we have a good car." |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: The Malaysian GP Massa probably lost his temper... Wed 11 Apr, 07:52 AM A burst of Latin temper probably derailed the Brazilian's quest for Grand Prix victory in the Malaysian Grand Prix. That is the belief of Willi Weber; manager of - ONLY REGISTERED AND ACTIVATED USERS CAN SEE ALL LINKS - CLICK HERE TO REGISTER, who last year raced alongside 25-year-old Massa at - ONLY REGISTERED AND ACTIVATED USERS CAN SEE ALL LINKS - CLICK HERE TO REGISTER. Despite starting from pole, Massa fell behind both McLarens at the start of Sunday's race and outbraked himself trying to recover a lost position to English rookie Lewis Hamilton. "I know him well," Weber told the news agency Deutsche Presse- Agentur. "He probably simply lost his temper." Weber, however, said that the Italian squad is likely to bounce back in Bahrain this weekend. He said: "It was always one of - ONLY REGISTERED AND ACTIVATED USERS CAN SEE ALL LINKS - CLICK HERE TO REGISTER's biggest strengths; turning things around really quickly." Weber also insisted that Schumacher, now an unspecified 'advisor' to - ONLY REGISTERED AND ACTIVATED USERS CAN SEE ALL LINKS - CLICK HERE TO REGISTER and its drivers, will not be scolding Massa for the error. "It is not Michael's role to tell off a driver when he makes a mistake," the German added. |
