Re: The Malaysian GP

It is a weekend like this one that will cause me to go to "Sports Watching Siberia". First a Mclaren 1-2 and Alonso leading the WDC. Worse still is Tiger Woods winning the Masters for the fifth time. What's next? The dreaded Toronto Maple Leafs making the playoffs?

Re: The Malaysian GP

Loved how Hamilton fooled Massa. Never seen anyone pull something like that off before. Very Senna-ish. Even more enjoyable watching a rookie do it on a veteran.
As I said, I was very impressed by Hamilton today. This is one of the most rookie hostile races on the calendar too, not only is it longest but it's also the hottest. And as he said, he also ran out of water making it even harder for him. And what a start he did!
Both McLaren boys did a great start and it was pretty much there were they won the race. Kimi and Massa might've been able to keep up with Alonso if they had gotten past Hamilton but they couldn't. A walk in the park victory for Alonso.

Overall a great race to watch!

How can a guy with all but two races of experience be called Senna-ish? That is an insult to Senna. Maybe if Hamilton wins 3 WDC, 65 poles, 41 wins, etc . . . he can appear in the same sentence as Senna.

By the way, Massa is still an amateur driver and not a grizzled veteran in my book. His race performances go from awful to spectacular without warning.

If Schumacher 'tricked' a driver by doing what Hamilton did, there would probably be outrage! Hamilton's 'trick' would be branded a 'cheat' if Schu did it.

I don't see it that way.
Senna pulled_a_Senna-esque on Monaco 1984 when he was just_another_rookie_Senna NOT 3_times_WDC_legendary_Senna.

Also's Senna's cars were:

- wide(r) vs. today
- equipped with active suspension (since 1987)
- equipped with movable balast
- equipped with slicks vs. grooves of today
- equipped with ABS and other electonical aids (active ride cars; late 80s/till 1993 including)

Senna's cars had, minus aero, more mechanical and/or electronical aids vs. that of Hamilton's of today and were slower (especially on corners) and subjected the driver to less G loads.

Hamilton was being polite and Massa admited his mistake.
Thing is, in Schumi's days (including last year) cars had more tyre/mechanical grip, and something like this would have been (a lot) less likely to happen.

Re: The Malaysian GP

Senna was able to pull off that drive in '84 because he was still Senna back then. The natural talent, car control, skill, desire were all there within him. I was talking about Senna's entire career achievements when I poked fun at Zonda for even comparing Senna and Hamilton. I don't want to put words in Zonda's mouth, but I reckon he was not saying Hamilton was Senna-ish using that one drive in '84 as his Senna reference. He was likely looking at Senna The Legend (not the rookie in '84).

With his jibe, Hamilton was trying to play mind games just like Tiger Woods does.

We don't agree often, IE, but you know your F1. So perhaps you can confirm something for me. Does Mclaren allow their drivers to take on personal endorsements and sponsorships outside the team? I read that Mclaren does not.

Well the thing is it's this "next <insert name here>" non-sense.
L. Hamilton is NOT the next <insert name here> but the first L. Hamilton.

If Hamilton continues this way and will become a multiple WDC legend, that one day a rookie might do good and be considered the next Hamilton (very Hamilton-esque).

That's how F1 was, is and will continue to be.

I honestly don't know.
A big problem is that McLaren (read R Dennis) is very secretive about this sort of stuff.
He wen't after a magazine witch claimed that with the Vodafone and Santander sponsorships McLaren now has the biggest budget, even toping Toyota.

As for my F1 knowledge witch, witch on this subject I lack, it's from other's (more knowledgeble) hard work.

Re: The Malaysian GP

Massa really cracked under pressure, tried to go into corners WAY to hot... Kimi is far better at being hot headed.. As for Lewis, I like the fella, he is great! Although... I predict he is going to be Mclarens/alonso's little ***** for a while... The stratigy will never be in his favour.... He may outrace Alonso but in the end, Ron will put him in second place.
