R&T First Drive: Koenigsegg CCX

The name may be unusual, but the performance is real.

A glance at the car's specifications suggest that this thing is a monster. The body and chassis are virtually all carbon fiber, helping the CCX to weigh in at a lean 2600 lb. Within the engine compartment, located behind the seats, is an all-aluminum 4.7-liter dohc V-8 with twin Rotrex centrifugal superchargers. At 17.4 psi of boost, this 32-valve V-8 pumps out an impressive 806 bhp at 6900 rpm and 678 lb.-ft. of torque peaking at 5700. You don't need a calculator to figure out that the CCX's power-to-weight ratio is just this side of insanity, between a sportbike and a NASCAR racer.
