According to the U.K.'s Guardian Unlimited, a bidding war could push the price of the company over £1 billion ($1.9 billion). Interested buyers are required to submit their initial bids by the end of the month, according to the report. The list of interested parties is made up of private equity firms and wealthy individuals, the newspaper said. So far, no automaker has come forward to express an interest in Aston. BMW recently said it has no desire to acquire the company. Analysts have also said a Japanese buyout of Aston Martin is unlikely. Accordingly, it looks like Aston Martin might become and independent organization — a rare arrangement in the automotive world these days." - ONLY REGISTERED AND ACTIVATED USERS CAN SEE ALL LINKS - CLICK HERE TO REGISTER |

![]() | Re: Aston Martin Will Most Likley Go Indpendent If they do go independent, i'd imagine they'd need a collaboration with another car company to share technology/engineering, or they continue their technical ties with Ford. |

Aston Martin sale nears Ford is close to selling its Aston Martin brand for as much as $1.2 billion, according to a report in Britain's Sunday Times. The original 30 interested parties has shrunk to just four contenders, which are now said to be engaged in a "particularly fierce" bidding war over the company. The Times said Syrian billionaire investor Simon Halabi has emerged as the lead bidder. Ford announced in August it intended to sell the company in order to raise capital. In November, it was reported Aston Martin would likely become an independent car company, since no major automaker expressed an interest in acquiring the marquee. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Aston Martin Will Most Likley Go Indpendent I thought it was reported it--with a sense of solidity--that Aston Martin was going to go to BMW. Well, there goes that report down the drain. I love AM and I want them to continue at whatever the cost. |

BMW AG was interested, but they changed their minds when Ford insisted on some terms of sales (eg. retaining a minor share in AM company, and an option of buyback in the future). That's also the reason no automotive company is interested - nobody wants to be just a "parking lot" for AM company, where it will wait till Ford recovers & buy it back. ![]() | |
