AutoZeitung - Ferrari 599 GTB

Verdict:

The Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano is a racing car for professionals with GT-characteristics for everyone. This mixture from running talent and everyday life vehicle is simply fascinating. Customers surely rather limited because of the high price receive a car, which does not disappoint also with the travelling comfort. Optically this Ferrari is rather Understatement, in addition, the Ferrari customers do not want to be noticeable always and everywhere. With that 599 makes it it nevertheless - on the December duck way.

Sweet! Thanks man. I'm still not 100% sold on the looks but 110% sold on it's performance though.

Have either of you seen the car in metal? I have.

Phew! Glory and magnificence personified. The best looking Ferrari since the F355 in my humble opinion.

Good question and my answer is no. I'm pretty picky when it comes to car design and whether i like it so i can guarantee when i see the 599 in the flesh it won't appeal to me. Same went for the Enzo, never liked it when it came out and when i saw one in the flesh it didn't interest me

However i'm not saying i dislike the 599 completley, there are styling ques which do appeal to me on the vehicle, for instance i love the side view. very reminiscent of classic Ferrari's such as the 275 GTB. The Rear design is alright, not a fan of the undertray diffuser though and the front end doesn't appeal to me at all. I've got strange tastes in vehicles though

The best looking Ferrari in my opinion is the F40 followed by the 550 Maranello.

Fair comment.

Let us know once you've set eyes on it in the tin though. I'm interested hear of your opinion after seeing it firsthand. Truthfully, the F599 is so special I had to go back to the Expo just to see it again. Another interesting phenomenon I experienced was that Aston Martin had the stand directly next to Ferrari. And, well, in my mind Astons (in particular the DB9) must rank as the most beautiful cars in the world. Curious then, that the Astons just dissolved into the periphery in the presence of the F599. This wasn't just my experience - pretty much everyone I've spoken to mentioned the same sort of thing. The F599 has massive presence and part of it is subliminally borne out by the car's truly spectacular vital stats and ostensibly monstrous performance potential.

So then, what's its 'Ring time gonna be? I'm hoping that it'll post a 7:42. Just_me, do you think this is realistic or pure fantasy on my part?

I agree with you about Enzo - not a good looking car by any stretch of the imagination. Front overhang is preposterous and the rear deck just a little to flat and wide. The Enzo just doesn't have that smooth, curvaceousness that all Ferrari's ought to have. It's all just a bit too much in the angular looks department for my tastes.

Good question, as Andreas said Ferrari's never really do that well with Sport Auto, but to be honest i think it has nothing to do with Sport Auto being biased. I think it's just how they perform, i even view them as a little over-rated when it comes to performance (excluding the Enzo)

My estimate on the Nurburgring is about 7:46. On the Hockenheim i'm guessing 1:12.5, but maybe 1:12.0
