i didnt know they sold so well, that a model like this was a neccessity.

siko posted these a while back, apparently it's a sportier version of the XKR.

Maybe it's not necessary. Think of how Audi is using the R8 as a sort of halo car to pull people into the showroom. I think that's how the XKR-R would be used... to pull people into the showroom and to have them hopefully purchase an XKR or 8... or one of the "lesser" Jags.
