![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Ferrari Dino (spy pics & info) ![]() New details on Ferrari’s upcoming small car There seems to be no end to rumours of Ferrari building a small car to take on the likes of the Aston Martin V8 Vantage and Porsche 911. The new car, possibly carrying the Dino nameplate, will be priced under $150,000 and will boost Ferrari’s annual production well beyond its current rate, something purists fear will dilute the brand’s exclusivity. Our previous report suggested that the new car would feature a folding metal roof and this latest rendering sourced from Autobild/Huckfeldt seems to support the rumour. Platform sharing with Maserati is a likely option with the Dino utilising design work shared with the upcoming Coupe and Spyder replacements. Previous reports have stated that the Dino will be a 2+2 seater, but this rendering clearly shows a strict 2 seater. Under the new sheet metal, the car will follow a front-engined rear drive layout with a 4.2L V8 as the powerplant of choice, although there’s talk of a small capacity V6 engine also on the cards. Look for a conventional steel monocoque chassis with the engine placed well behind the front-axle for improved weight distribution. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Will Ferrari build a new Dino? First of all I can telly o u guys that I love the chop, especially the grill which reminds me of the Ferraris produced during the begining of the 90s. I would simply love to own one of these cute little Dinos. Ferrari is probably one of the three most exclusive car brand. There is barely any brand which has the same sexy image as Ferrari. A Ferrari with a price tag below 150k would totally destory Ferraris reputation. Just about any new millionare och spoiled brat would want to buy one, but on the other hand it would sell like butter. Then Ferrari have the option of producing very limited amount of the Dino like they do with the F430 and 599GTB and in that way keep the brand exclusive. Anyhow it willbe interesting to see if they pull this of or not. |

I'm not a Ferrari fan.. I suppose i could see Ferrari making a new Dino, my only problem would be the fact that it would make Ferrari less exclusive (as if they aren't already like Corolla's! Joke )If i was to remake the Dino i'd go with a 4.0 litre V8 with about 400 PS, but i'd mount the engine in the mid.

At that pricing it might enroach Maserati's new Coupe's territory. I highly doubt Ferrari would allow that.

![]() ![]() | Re: Will Ferrari build a new Dino? Sounds like there is some temptation to enter the mass production business for financial reasons obviously. Too bad if they do that.... |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Will Ferrari build a new Dino? I'm sorry to dissapoint you guys but it seem like the Dino will be revived. Read this: LB @ rennteam.com "Last May I was invited to place a order on the much speculated Dino. I put down a deposit fully refundable incase the project did not get the green light. Today i recieved a phone caller from the sales manager letting me know that ferrari has officially given the go ahead and that the Dino was planned for production. Unofficiall pictures were published in the german Auto Bild Magazine. Coupe allocation for end 2007 and Spider for 1st quarter 2008 " Personally I have no problem with a mini Ferrari as long as Ferrari does what AM did with the Vantage, and produce the car in very limited numbers. The AMV8 production is at 2000 cars/year. Since Ferrari is a more exclusive brand the Dino production will probably not exceed 2000 cars/year. The F430 uses a modified Maserati engines, and I guess that the Dino will have a 6 cylinder version of the V8 lying in the F430. Since Loyal Ferrari customers are as we speak signing up for their Dino suggest to me that that when the car is launched it will already be sold out for the next 2-3 years. |
