![]() | What is Ferrari doing? I'm reading car magazines and I keep seeing Ferrari making these one-off cars. They have the FXX, that P4 by Pininfarina. I know the P4 was a more unique example, but the car still flies the Ferrari emblem. I'll bet Ferrari churns out more of these one-offs. Their road cars are still good though less attractive than the previous line-up in my opinion. I don't like them building these super limited edition cars. The company is becoming a market maker for speculators. These cars will just get flipped by speculative buyers. Didn't Ferrari used to be against speculation in their cars? Nigel Mansell got a free F40 and flipped it for a huge profit. After that, Ferrari stopped giving their F1 drivers cars. I may have an extreme opinion, but I think Ferrari risks looking like some glorified custom car shop if they keep going down this road. I don't mind them making limited edition cars for homologation purposes because that is part of their racing heritage, but what I see them doing now is different. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: What is Ferrari doing? Well, actually the FXX is not a one off. It's their test mule for future Enzo replacement where the customers are involved in the testing. And to make the P4 was not ferrari's decision, it was the decision of the owner who bought and Enzo but wanted something different. He then contracted Penin-Farina (spelling?) to design and build it for him. Penin-Farina have been known to make specialized cars for their customers. I'm not sure about whether ferrari stopped giving their F1 drivers cars because Schumi has a bunch of them and I'm pretty sure he didn't buy them. |

![]() | Re: What is Ferrari doing? I'm not criticizing you, but I think the test mule explanation is laughable. Why are customers involved in the testing anyway? Can't they get input from a certain Ferrari owner by the name of M. Schumacher or previous drivers named Prost, Mansell, Berger, etc...? I still treat the FXX as some one-off, custom job because I think it is an excuse to sell a jazzed-up Enzo. The P4 was a more unique case, as I said. The buyer commissioned Pininfarina to design the car, but it has the Ferrari badge and can be considered a Ferrari. I don't think they seem to mind promoting it as one. Schu has a bunch of cars, but I think he pays for them. The only one that I don't think he paid for was his F50. The Mansell F40 fiasco turned the practice of giving cars into a farce. By the way, Naruto, who is that girl in your avatar? |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: What is Ferrari doing? I know what you're saying about about the FXX, it is awkward for any other company to do the whole customer involvement, but at the same time it's not the first time Ferrari has done this. The reason they have such a loyal following is because they take care of their customers. I'm not saying that I'm right and you're wrong but what I'm saying is coming from a Ferrari owner's mouth. So if its just the Ferrari marketing machine, I don't know but what I do know is that when you can get people to buy your cars, but you get to keep them and they test them for you for free/actually pay you, then its one hell of an advantage over your competitors. About shumi's cars...I have no freakin Idea, except he gave one of his personal 360modena to an indian cricketer in return the cricketer gave him a signed cricket bat...LOL that car had to free otherwise $300,000 for a signed bat is just retarded for him...LOL I can sign bats too! anyways...the girl in my avatar is Riya Sen, she is an Indian actress. |
