Lincoln Navigator and upcoming MKX. Porsche Cayenne. All the luxury brands have a CUV or SUV with Audi the most recent manufacturer to join the high-priced club with the Q7. But what about poor Jaguar? While one could argue the X-Type sportswagon is a form of CUV, experts and, more importantly, buyers disagree, and the lack of such a model may be hurting the wounded cat. Michael O'Driscoll, president of Aston Martin, Jaguar, and Land Rover North America, was coy when posed the question: "What I would say is that our focus, certainly in the medium term, is in the sedan and sports car markets. "But... there is so much untapped potential that Jaguar has the potential to realize. We certainly don't need to be in the crossover or SUV business to do well. "Now, that doesn't rule out the potential, longer-term of a crossover. I'd never do that." [Source: Detroit Free Press] |
