Two more doors for the Clio

The new Renault Clio is now available in five-door form. Renault have a lot to be pleased about with their new Clio, which has taken most of the prizes going since its launch. This model broadens the appeal of the range and manages to be extremely safe, good to drive, well-priced and with lower insurance ratings than its predecessor - the entry-level model being 2E.

Other notable features are front lateral airbags on every model and its five star EuroNCAP rating. The pricing is competitive, but the new Clio is not necessarily the cheapest option. Renault expects its biggest petrol seller to be the Dynamique 1.4, which undercuts the ageing Vauxhall Corsa by £550 and the Volkswagen Polo by a ridiculous £2,260. But the entry-level five door Clio, priced at £8,995, is substantially more expensive than the £7,550 Seat Ibiza or £7,499 Suzuki Swift. In fact you can have the Swift with the 1.5 engine for £8,999.

But that doesn't stop the Clio being an embodiement of clear-thinking and achievment from La Régie. The price difference over the 3 door ranges from £100 for the base model to £600 for the more popular models. The five door went on sale on 27th January.

I must say the car looks much better proportioned with 5 doors!

Re: Two more doors for the Clio

IMO, this car is going to sell like hot cakes. I'm considering to buy one probably in the late spring as my old clio (MY 1990) is a bit old...
