Ferrari call you up and ask how you would like to be involved in a high profile automotive testing programme where you can sample nigh on 600 kW (800 hp) in the most pulverising track-oriented Ferrari ever made with a view to contributing telemmetry data and driver feedback information back to the greater project. At this level money isn't really an object.

Instead, I prefer to think of the prestige and honour to be chosen for the opportunity to participate and contribute in a meaningful manner to the research and development of the greatest sportscar brand in the world. Anyone with a passion for track-days and an over-supply of cash would lunge at the opportunity...

I think you're being a little too dismissive and critical of what appears to be a worthy initiative.

What if Horatio asked the same thing of Pagani customers, given Pagani Automobili's limited means, to participate in a similar programme to shakedown a few 800 bhp Zondas? You'd back it all the way...

It all sounds very good - but surely Ferrari don't need "civilians" to tell them how to make great cars - I've always admired the fact that Ferraris were bred and developed on the F1 racetrack. Now some middle-aged boy-racer billionaires are going to help "design" the next Ferrari - has the world gone nutso.

I too would have to be the fool for something like this. People with this kind of money see cars as toys, plus you get to be in on Ferrari road-car development. The only thing cooler would be able to purchase one of their late model (like a 2004) F1 cars.

If prestige were simply measured on how wide a brand can get wallets to open up, Ferrari would be the most prestigious in the world. Well them and Bugatti since they also have a million dollar baby for sale.

ferrari imo are a holes.. the whole bunch from the scuderia down to the man who mopps the floor of the factory
