Latest scoop is that this is a pre-production concept (although close to production) and will be presented @ Geneva

Since it is a shortened version of the 4porte it doesn't offer as much interior space as the CL, neither is it as comfort orientated as the CL. I would say it is blend of the 6er and AMV8. A performance orientated 2+2.

Ahh that makes sense, but it is priced more in the CL direction. But I guess it is Italian...

I having difficulties beleiving that's a production car concept. I really can't see any concept ques in the design. It doesn't look flashy or "impossible" at all.

The current coupe has an asking price of 80K for the weakest engine rocking 390hp.

OH MY GOD! Thanks Luw for sharing these pictures, Karma for you. So they did release sneek pictures on the 20th after all, as what I've read from Quattroroute (sp?)

I think it looks great overall. The rims especially, it's uncanny of Maserati to pay so much attention into little stuff like that... And I like their style a lot.

However, the front lights look a little weird, I was expecting them to be smaller ala Quattroporte, and even if it isn't, it should look more streamlined. Also I see interesting curves in the grill, unlike the mesh which they use now in the QP and Gransport.

The interior is QP-inspired but they've differentiated it alot from the sedan. Good work. I can't wait to see more details...

Oh and about the engine, later in the car's life cycle they're gonna release a new 4.7L V8... For now, they'll be using the same 4.2 V8 which isn't slow by any means. I expect it'll still do 0-100 in 5 second flat or less, which is respectable enough IMO... Couple that with improved dynamics over the Gransport, we'll see a great sports car.

From the pictures though I see an automatic gearbox! Same ZF six-speeder... Looks like Maserati is going for useability more than sportiness now.

Marcus is gonna die seeing this? Where are you, Merc1?

It's priced less than the V8 Vantage here... Actually, you could get one for the price of a 650i, which is good value indeed.
