After 130 km (~80 mph) the M5 is faster. The 63 lost the massive low end torque of the 55.

I say they are pretty even up to 160km/h.

They're even until 130, after witch the M5 pulls away, by 200 km/h having quite an advatage .
But the S85 begins to shine at around 180 km/h, and reaches its climax at speed in excess (way) of 300 km/h. Here the E63 has no such vigour.

Actually the E63 gave the E-Class much better flexibilty then it ever had, the supercharged 5.4 litre V8 used to lag behind, the 6.2 is much better in terms of in-time. But the E63 doesn't look like it's lagging behind in the numbers you provided..?, it's .5 quicker from 60 to 100 km/h and just .2 slower from 80-120 km/h.

Agreed, 9.4 and 9.7 is hardly any difference at all.

It's called midrange acceleration.

AMG's usually have very good midrange power, especially the models with forced induction engines.

The engine response should be better too now that it is naturally aspirated.

the good thing with lot of torque, if you drive in a high gear with a torquey car you dont have to change gear as often as with a car with low torque. However I dont mind changing gear so its no problem for me
