The six-cylinder models E 320 CDI and E 350, as well as the eight-cylinder E 420 CDI and E 500, are equipped with the unique seven-speed automatic transmission as standard. In conjunction with the sports package, the 7G-TRONIC transmission of the E 350 and E 500 offers a manual shift mode (M) in which the driver is able to change the gears by nudging newly developed, ergonomically shaped gearshift paddles on the steering wheel. This shortens the acceleration time by up to 0.2 seconds – in the E 280 with 7G-TRONIC from 7.3 to 7.1 seconds, in the E 350 from 6.9 to 6.7 seconds and in the E 500 from 5.1 to 4.9 seconds.

Well I can't find anything about a 6-speed manual in the E550 that is why I was asking. The above info is talking about the 7G-Tronic, not a traditional 6-speed manual. I think someone may have jumped the gun on this one??? Anyone else see where manual and E550 are used in the same sentence???

I just posted that info because I thought it was pretty cool. I'll keep looking. The new E is the only MB as of yet that I'd take over a comparable Bimmer.

In the PDF it says that it will be available w/ a 6spd, however I think that might change w/ N.A. market cars, but who knows, if they're smart they'll make the 6 spd available to those who want it.

The highest model's using the 6 speeds are the 280's.

I think I might have jumped the gun too earily on this one!

If you look at the PDF file it`s talking about the "6-speed manual" ratios
that the G7 uses.

MB should offer a true 6-speed for the E550. That would be quit awesome.

I just looked at the PDF (finally) there is no manual trans for the E550/500. The PDF just lists all the possible configurations for each model and those that apply have the info (gear ratios) filled in on the right side of the page. No 6-speed for the E500/550, just the 7G-Tronic and 5-Speed for the E500/550 4Matic.
