Well that's my understanding. Anyone please correct me if I am wrong.
I believe Mercedes had this in some of their cars from the 70's, it wasn't very reliable though.

So, ya, it does look like BMW studied the competition.

Re: E63 ///amg

You guys , the CLK does not come with neither in the regular lineup . I think that's why they just added ABC , since the project will cost them anyway and the car at that level of power needed that kinda modification .

Yes, the normal CLK uses regular springs and shocks. We know the CLK63 now uses ABC. (according to the AMG site) If the E63 still uses Airmatic
thats a big disadvantage to ABC. ABC is way better and faster reacting!

Like I said really can`t see MB equiping the CLK63 with this excellent suspension while leaving the E63 and CLS63 with AirmaticII.

I don't have time to look now, but the CLK63 uses ABC? Active Body Control from the S/CL/SL? I don't believe that.

EDC existed in M5 E34 so its hardly a new invention.
Im not talking about copy, this dont exist in E55 but in E63. Why? Probably because M5 has it. thats what Im saying and it has nothing to do with copying. So obviosly MB studied the compeition and now its available for E63 AMG..
Just because I say study the competition then I dont mean its something bad.

No no Just Me, I don't have a problem with what you're saying. I was just under the impression that since the standard 2002 E-class airmatic had adaptive dampening, surely the airmatic equipped E55 also had this adaptive dampening? Now with the E63 the adaptive dampening has again been upgraded which is why its been mentioned in the press release?

Hopefully a more knowledgeable MB fan can tell us if the airmatic system fitted to the E55 did in fact have adaptive dampening? I don't understand why it wouldn't have it when the standard system did.

I dont know much about MB history (not much about BMW history either) but since someone wrote that quote I had to write what I thought When I read that qoute it sounded like there were 3 different settings. M5 has 3 settings as well normal, comfort, sport. What are those three settings called on E63?

Re: E63 ///amg

Looks like thay kept Airmatic. Thay improved it though! The CLK63 will outperform the E63 on the track with it`s ABC setup. Thats for sure!
