I don't know what to say. I have seen the C6 only once at Athens International Motor Show, and i can say that in one way it reminded me the "good, old Citroens". Including the CX. But, i'm not so sure that it will be a great replacement. For me it's a good one, but i want to know what others say, and i will not make my final "desicion" until i see some sales figures.

As for the depreciation, it's very awful as you said. Not only the XM, but the current and the bit old models can be bought in a very low price.

Second-hand, even the very low mileage Citroens sell for little more than the price of four new tyres and a tank of petrol. The only Citroens that sell for a moderately good price are the ones with special bodies like the Chapron cars. I think depreciation will stop the C6 from being a big seller. Its German competitors are so entrenched in the high-end luxury market so the C6 might be a fruitless development even before factoring depreciation. When I see French automobiles, I think small hatchbacks and fastbacks with costly maintenance.

Still, I'm glad the Citroen designers dared to produce something so different from the other cars on the road. Does anyone know if the French president is using a C6 as his official transport?

CarGuy, which Honda/Acura are you referring to? One of my friends has a 15 year-old Honda/Acura Legend in a champagne colour. I've never seen any rust on it.

What a beautiful car - I absolutely ADORE the Citroen C6, one of the greatest looking cars produced in the past decade or so. But even though I love this car to bits, it's surely not a 'better' car than the E-Class.

But heck, it looks better though.

I don't agree with it. This may just cut off a small number of sales, but not a sugnificant one. At least here in Greece. IMO, when someone buys a car, he buys it to use and enjoy it and not to sell it. We bought the S60 1.5 years ago. Even though the depreciation for this car is very high here, we went for it, no matter what the numbers say. You buy a car for you, not for the others....

Point taken, Giannis. However, I don't think Greece is too big a market for Citroen. IMO, I think depreciation does matter in the major markets like the UK, Germany, Asia. The second-hand car market is particularly big in the UK. The cars today don't last as long as they once did so they perhaps need to be sold within 5, 6 years. Still, I see your point about the buying habits..

I don't think I'd go as far as saying I adore the C6, but it does look like a good Citroen. I have to get used to the front of the car though. The front-end still looks too much like the early-model XM.

Actually, Greece is a very respected market for Citroen and all the other medium badget brands. You can't imagine how many citroens you can see here, especially the smaller models. Even C5 sales are great. There are many on the roads. The second hand market is not that big though. People prefer to buy new cars than used ones.

And it's true that cars don't last as long as they did. I seen my clio. Almost 16 years old and it is still an ok car to use, and i hope that the S60 will last that much. But a friend 206, which is like 4 years old has almost broken into pieces, and my gf's 206 with is only 2 years old is in no better condition. But another friends E36 (8 years old) is like it's new!

BTW, i kinda like the C6's front. It's old good citroen. I'm skeptic about the rear though..

Wow, I didn't think Citroens were big in Greece.. I've been to Greece, but I've never seen too many Citroens...

I guess I'm the opposite, Giannis. The rear looks fine in my ends, but that front is like a recycled XM. I particularly hate the XM because it really ruined Citroens IMO. It was just a disappointing replacement for the CX. I really like the mid-1980s CX, especially the cars built by the specialist firm Labbe for European business and French government officials.
