![]() | Re: E class servicing (w211) Since you can find your way into the service screan, then you can scroll down to the confirm service bar. Confirm service and you are set until it yells at you again. Out here each item 1,2,3... is based on time or mileage. 12,000 miles or 1 year... When they time or mileage comes up the item is due, does not matter if it is worn or not. brake fluid every two years dust filter every two years charcoal every 4 years spark plugs every 100,000miles or 5 years engine filters every two years or so, but if you live in a dusty place replace it more often. Take a look at you air filters and dust filters once a year or so. If they are dirty, replace them, if not you are fine. I would recomend to run the a/c at least once a month so the oil can lubricate all the seals and prevent them from drying out and leaking. |

Has anyone noticed that MB does not recommend transmission fluid change? Our dealer will change the filter and fluid for about $200, and I recommend it to my owners at 70k miles. we started seeing trannies go between 100k and 140k. i can't believe MB thinks you can let your trans go unserviced.

![]() | Re: E class servicing (w211) We "recommend" changing the engine air filter every year or 12,000 miles. But then we are greedy. Though depending on how dusty the area you live the more you should replace it. The air filter does effect your gas mileage. We usually recommend trans service after 50,000 miles. I have replaced two transmissions in the past few weeks, both on MLs. One was due to a leak, it was 2.5 quarts low and burned up, and the guy next to me also just did one on a ML. Most transmissions don't need a fluid flush, most leak out of the electrical connector. Replace the connector and fill it back up, flush done The one weak point of the 722.6 |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: E class servicing (w211) Does the 7-G tronic gearbox suffer the same type of problems? Cause some owners with early 7-G gerbox complainned the gearbox is a bit jerky from 1st to 2nd, and they blame it on leaky transmission fluid. |

![]() | Re: E class servicing (w211) Don't seem to have any problems with fluid leaks in the 722.9 It does have problems with some shifts 1-2, 2-3, 3-2. Most fixed with a new circlip, the clip pops out and the new ones fit "better". |

Our E-Class has now about 56.000 km on the clock - and the board computer signals that the brake disc have to be replaced (again)!!! I think, we should really talk to a mechanic at our Mercedes Benz dealer. Monster / cawimmer, do you also have such "big" problems with the brakes of your E-Class? It can't be normal, that every 20.000 - 30.000 kilometres the brake disc have to be replaced!!? ![]() |

Speaking of servicing, the reminder for service E popped up a few weeks ago, not sure if i should take it in since i took the car for an engine oil change at around 8000km. The engine does sound louder than before during start up but it idle just as quietly as ever. Our E is 2 years old, maybe it is time to change the engine filter and possibly the battary.
