I have read several times that Condi Rice as Veep could be the savior for the party, if they want to take back the W.H. She is very popular with Republicans and (obviously) an African-American woman. She could sap some support from both Obama's and Clinton's strongest support groups.
Wow ....now that would be interesting.

Actually, I would like to see Condi run for President ....I think she could make a very good President ...as long as she got rid of some of the hawks.

I would love to have seen Colin Powell as President.

As for the Democrats, I'm not a big Hillary fan, I definitely favour Obama. Clinton has been erratic ...and I hate to sound sexist, but when a woman uses aggressive and dirty tactics, it just makes her look like a total bitch. However, the pressure on Clinton must be extreme.

You hit the nail right on the head. Negative, aggressive campaigning looks awful when it is employed by a woman that 50% of the country already dislikes. Having said that, I was a big Maggie Thatcher fan, but I think she has stronger political principles than Hillary.

I think America is more ready to give a black man a chance to be president than a woman. I wrote "a chance" because I am not so sure where white men will vote in November. Men don't often become the swing vote.

Obama is winning white men by 20 percentage points, but he was not doing nearly as well before Edwards dropped. In South Carolina, Obama only got 20% of the white vote. In a general election, I wonder if white men will vote for a war hero and Hanoi Hilton resident (and fellow white man) or a very liberal black senator. I think that voting group decides the election.

Of course, if I uttered that last line on the not-so-objective cable networks, I would be castrated as arguing against change, stirring up identity politics and - well, you know the rest.

Re: Obama phenomenon / fashion / hysteria?

The problem with HC is she is so fake. Without any real personality & completely lacking charisma. Not a presidential material. Just like John Kerry. A vanilla.

Yes, US are ready for a female president, but not for HC as president.

But she has the guts (and ambition) to run for a president. She deserves an applause.

Btw, in big western countries central-right (conservative) female candidates seems to have better chances to be elected in high positions ... Eg. Maggie Tatchers, Angela Merkel.

Perhaps Condi should run as VP.
And becoming the first African-American & the first female president of USA ... in 2011 when McCain dies of several massive heart attacks.

So what now? Clinton basically just swept "Critical Tuesday."

Today there were some rumblings of the "Dream Ticket" only arguments on who would be on top...

Re: Obama phenomenon / fashion / hysteria?

I believe large masses of Republican/Republican-friendly voters have started to vote for Hillary because McCain's nomination was already certain before yesterday. This will benefit them in two ways.

Firstly, they will be able to prolong the Democratic nomination race which gives the Republican side more time to get ready for November.

And secondly, they want to face Hillary in the final round as they believe she is less competitive against McCain.

Only a deranged party would consider two Ivy-league, northeastern Liberal senators running together a dream of any kind!

If Obama is top of the ticket, why would he want Bill and Hill in his administration? If Hillary is on top, why would he agree to run with her? Accepting the VP probably hurts your chance to get into the White House more than it helps! Not many veeps have succeeded their incumbent president.

I was shocked Hillary won the way she did. That "3:00 am red phone ad" worked for her. NAFTAgate also helped. The polls in Texas turned for Hillary on Friday. That is pretty impressive! However, the delegate math does not work out favorably for her.

There is already talk that Rush Limbaugh put Hillary over the top in Texas.

Perhaps now the Clintons will be backed by Klingons ... due the similar pronunciation.

Re: Obama phenomenon / fashion / hysteria?

Bolidismo must be pulling his hair out, but finally Gore's name has been tossed around. If this Obama v. Clinton fight goes to the convention floor, Gore could step in and get the nomination.

Gore has more experience than Clinton, Obama, Edwards combined. He doesn't just talk about change, but he has a record of it. Like Obama, he did not support going into Iraq, but Gore did break with party lines to support the first Gulf War.

He would not have problems with the Democratic base and there is no question mark over his electability and experience. In 2000, he ran an awful campaign, but still won the popular vote and many think he won the election. I think in '08, he can easily nick off one of the red states, probably Ohio or Missouri.
