The war with Iraq has turned out to be the biggest mess since Vietnam. The US has proven to be help less despite all their super advanced army. Capturing Saddam Hussein was nothing but an introduction. Gordon Brown in the UK will become a hero simply by withdrawing all the British troops which is something that Bush can't. The US will be supporting Iraq until it is a stable nation. Right now the country is no mans land similar to Somalia without an established government. Young men are dying, the war is getting less popular and billions of dollars are being spent while millions of Americans are living without health insurance while many others are living in poverty. |

I think one of the absolute worst choices right now is Rudy Giuliani. His views on foreign policiy are absolutely frightening, borderline facist. Also, his plan to strengthen and extend the Patriot Act is even more frightening. He has said that he values 'Executive Privalege' over The Constituion, and will use EP as a tool to Put America 'on offense' and protect 'America.' If the world hates Bush because of his foreign policy, they would be screwed if Rudy was elected. |

![]() | Re: 2008 U.S. Presidential Election Al Gore needs to run. Unfortunately, I don't think his party is smart enough to nominate him, even if he gets into the race. The Dems always nominate east coast Liberals that can't win in the general election. This time it's probably going to be Hillary. I think Republicans know they will have the hardest time being Gore. Hillary Clinton, because she has a 48-50% negative rating from voters, the Republicans can handle. In some polls 40%+ of the respondents say they will never vote for her! I think you can't win an election when you are only able to compete for 60% of the vote. |

His "documentary" is a big load of propaganda BS -- he just jumped on the climate change bandwagon for his own publicity. He would just be a lap dog for the United Nations -- there is not much that is noble about the UN. |

![]() | Re: 2008 U.S. Presidential Election Quote:
The reason I support Gore is that I think he is the toughest Democrat to beat. Let's face it, Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama are radical choices. By radical, I mean that no woman or African American has ever been nominated for president. The Democratic party always goes to the same well for candidates - i.e. east coast Liberals that can't win general elections. The last three Dem presidents have been southerners. If they pick a safe, white, southern male, they should win the presidency handily. I don't think there is a safer one than Gore. To win the presidency, you need to win a southern state. I am absolutely not convinced that southerners will vote for a woman or a black man. The south is not a Democratic stronghold anyway and I see no reason to experiment with a radical choice. There is too much at stake, perhaps for the entire world, in this '08 election. Before someone calls me a racist and insist on a white president, I'll just say that I'm not even white. I want to see the best candidate try to win the WH. I didn't mind Republicans (heck, I'd be Republican if I'm American), but 8-years is long enough for any party to occupy the WH. Unlike some Democrats, I just think that their fetish with east coast Liberal nominees is stupid. They should not nominate anyone from New York, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, Jersey or any of those states. They should go to what works and that's not east coast Liberals! ![]() | Re: 2008 U.S. Presidential Election I just didn't want anyone to mistake that I think the US president has to be white. I only want the Democrats to go to its proven winning formula, which happens to be running a safe, white southern male. They can't afford to run another Massachusetts Liberal or throw up a riskier candidate than they need. In 2000, when the world was a safer place, I would have been on board for an Obama Experiment. As for Gore's Iraq policy, he's keeping to himself and I can't help you there. He's only said that he would make an immediate assessment of the situation and find the "least bad" way to solve it. I think he advocates firm deadlines for bringing troops home. He has no reason to publicize his position. If he gets into the race, he'll do it last minute and doesn't need to give his opponents time to digest his Iraq policy. Heck, even the candidates running don't have clear policy initiatives for the Iraq mess, so he's got nothing to gain by laying out his. I hear a Nobel peace prize might get Al into the race. I just don't think he'll win the Nobel. He ran a lousy campaign in 2000 and still won the popular vote. I think he is the safest choice. Why take a bigger risk than you need with Clinton or Obama? This is not the year to ask, "would voters, especially those in the south, do something they have never done and never been asked to do?" |
