but .....a product seldom just looks right by accident. Apart from changing trends and personal taste issues, a well-designed product should encompass much more than just instant desirability.

I think many product designers have become too preoccupied with making products seductive and desirable (appealing to impulsive consumers constantly looking for new "stuff" to fill their lives with) ...and neglected several other important factors.

For me personally, the most important thing I look for in a well designed product is integrity. By this I mean the product has been designed with a genuine reason (functional or otherwise) beyond being just another consumer product to acquire, get bored with, and discard.

I think some of us, like myself, can be a mixture of things. Maybe some of us can be 1 the most with a little bit of 2 and 3?

I like all three choices but feel that number 1 talks to me.

I am the type that doesn't go with what everyone likes. Yes I pay attention to what the trend is and I may like it, but if I don't then I don't.

I like things that call out to me and I guess it comes from my personality which seeks to be different yet allow for something that I like and not totally different just to be different.
