Blog Entries: 2 | I just wanted to hear everybody's opinion on the CLK DTM road car, whether you like it, dislike it or whatever. It's car that only gets postive kudos from magazines (EVO, Sport Auto & etc) but when i usually go onto a car forum i hear the exact opposite.. The most common thing i hear is that CLK DTM is nothing but a beefed up CLK series with a whored engine and large price tag (236,060 EURO). Another thing i often hear is how the SLR McLaren is more sporty than the CLK DTM This whole argument always gets my me mad, because i firmly believe the CLK DTM is an amazing car, in fact it's on my ten favourite list. ![]() The car was designed as a road racer and to prove that Mercedes has gone great lengths, even for the exterior. The commen comparsion being the SLR vs the CLK DTM, now of course that is subjective. My thoughts being the SLR looks more exotic, but the CLK DTM looks more racer with flared arches, air -hungry front bumper and carbon spoiler. I'd say they both look great ![]() I don't know why anyone would insist the CLK DTM is just a cruising luxury car, look at the interior for instance. They've taken out the normal leathers and hard plastics in replace for a carbon fibre dash, pure ccarbon fibre doors and the seats are pure racer with Alcantara finish. They're are no rear seats .. ![]() When we go onto performance it's clear the CLK DTM is more sporty than the SLR, but not just the SLR, the CLK DTM can easily hold it's own against a Ferrari F430. Look at the Sport Auto data: the CLK DTM out slaloms the SLR and F430 in both the 18 metre and 36 metre. When it comes to the track the CLK DTM runs the Nurburgring in 7:54, two seconds away from Mercedes' own SLR, but faster than the mid engine Italian. The Hockenheim data also shows this car's capabilities, 1:12.5 on the circuit leaves it's a good 1 second ahead of the SLR and .2 tenths ahead of the F430. Now i'm not saying this car should be compared to the F430 or even the SLR, i am simply using two different categories of supercars to judge the CLK DTM's performance. ![]() Now maybe this lack of respect for the CLK DTM does not exist on GCZ, but everywhere else.. ![]() |

| Re: Opinions on the CLK-DTM (Roadcar) There is nothing negative about it in my opinion. I'd like to hear what these people's disrespect is based on. It looks fantastic, goes fantastic, is exclsuive and it's said like it goes round corners as if it was on rails. Tell me something negative about it? ![]() |

| Re: Opinions on the CLK-DTM (Roadcar) Yeah its pricey, but I love it. Why would people give this car a bad karma because of the SLR is beyond me. Maybe they don't know MB history or something. |

| Re: Opinions on the CLK-DTM (Roadcar) I love this car! To an ordinary people it looks like a usual CLK but when it passes by you with 320km/h...I've seen it several times, it's great looking performance-track car... |

| Re: Opinions on the CLK-DTM (Roadcar) If we talk about the CLK-DTM as a daily drive then i can name you at least 50 drawbacks. But if we consider it as a track car then i there are no drawbacks. |

Personally, I think the CLK-DTM AMG is the most sporty road car ever built by Mercedes Benz.......wait a minute, does it outperform the CLK-GTR road car??? | |
