517 PS, gewaltige 830 Newtonmeter Drehmoment und vornedran ein Stern: AUTO BILD fuhr den neuen Mercedes CL 600.



Von Ben Arnold: Natürlich gibt es immer jemanden, der noch ein bisschen schlauer ist als man selbst. Kein Problem. Doch jetzt kommt mit dem neuen CL ein Hightech-Auto, bei dem erstmal nicht ganz klar wird, wer den höheren IQ besitzt: Fahrer oder Bordelektronik. Vor allem in die Sicherheitsausstattung haben die Stuttgarter eine Menge Hirnschmalz investiert: Die Pre-Safe-Bremse bremst das Fahrzeug vor einem drohenden Auffahrunfall automatisch ab. Damit sich der Pilot nicht völlig entmündigt fühlt, allerdings nur mit 40 Prozent Bremswirkung. Tritt der Fahrer aufs Pedal, steht in Kooperation mit dem Bremsassistenten (BAS) augenblicklich die volle Verzögerungswirkung an. Sollte es wider Erwarten doch krachen, sind die Passagiere dank des Insassenschutzes Pre-Safe gerüstet. Das System stellt in brenzligen Situationen die Sitzlehnen gerade, strafft die Gurte und schließt das Schiebedach. Aber nicht allein deshalb ist der CL das, was der Schwabe ein "Schlaule" nennt: Das Intelligent Light System unterscheidet Landstraße von Autobahn, passt den Lichtkegel der jeweiligen Situation an. (The new CL is a car filled to the max with computer systems, especially in regards to safety. Pre-Safe got some extra twists such as 40% automatic braking if the sensors sense a collission in the making - alarming the driver and allowing him or her to react on his own. Once the driver steps on the brake pedal, BAS (brake assistant) is alerted and helps reduce speed with extra power depending on how hard the driver steps on the brake. If the collission still occurs, no fear, the internal cabin protection system kicks in. This includes the repositioning of the seats into a safe position, the strengthening of the safety belts and the closing of the sunroof or windows. More technology? How about the intelligent lighting system that can detect what type of road you're travelling on (Autobahn, Landstrasse etc.) and changes the intensity and angle of the headlights.)



Zum Glück hat Mercedes aber darauf verzichtet, sein intelligentes Auto wie einen steifen Streber aussehen zu lassen. Mit kraftvoll-imposanter Front schiebt sich der großzügig geschnittene Zweitürer durch den Wind. Die geschmeidige Zartheit des Vorgängers ist passé, dieser CL scheint wieder aus dem Vollen geschnitzt. Gestreckt auf mehr als fünf Meter Länge, macht das Coupé auf S-Klasse-Basis richtig was her. Damit man sich im Stadtverkehr mit dem Riesen nicht blamiert, berechnet die Parkführung (Aufpreis) vorab, ob die anvisierte Lücke für das Dickschiff überhaupt ausreicht. Unter der Haube des CL 600 setzt Mercedes ausnahmsweise auf Altbewährtes: den V12-Biturbo – seit 2002 im Einsatz. Schließlich sollte genug Power vorhanden sein, um der versammelten Konkurrenz mal ganz gepflegt die Rücklichter zu zeigen. Unglaubliche 517 PS und Bergmassiv-ähnliche 830 Newtonmeter Drehmoment helfen da durchaus weiter, verleihen dem 2,2-Tonnen-Koloss die Explosivität eines Feuerwerkkörpers. Richtig wohl fühlt sich der Mercedes auf der Autobahn. Wer will, darf aber auch um enge Ecken brezeln. Selbst in Kurven demonstriert das Fahrzeug, dass das C in CL für "clever" steht: Die fahrdynamischen Multikontursitze blasen die Wangen bedarfsgerecht auf. Sie geben exzellenten Halt und garantieren so, dass im Cockpit niemand verrutscht. Zusätzlich sorgt die weiterentwickelte Active Body Control (ABC) für ruhige Fahrt. Leistungsfähiger als bisher soll das hydraulische Federungssystem Anfahraufbäumen, Seitenneigung und Bremsnicken kompensieren. Natürlich kostet die schöne neue Autowelt eine Stange Geld: Angesichts der Preisforderung von mindestens 105.850 Euro für das Einstiegsmodell CL 500 und 149.640 Euro für den CL 600, sollte man vorher genau nachrechnen, ob man sich so viel automobile "CLeverness" wirklich leisten kann. But if you want, you can move this car around curves and actually experience fun. Even in curves, the CL is still capable. Of course, this car isn't cheap. For a base CL500, you need to fork over 105,850 Euros: 149,640 for the CL600.)

Ok I`m a little late with this news but it shows how HOT the new CL600 really is. From the Kansas City Star December 22 Friday

"Mercedes created a Signature Edition CL600 coupe, which it offered exclusivly through Saks Fifth Avenue`s holiday catalog for $160,000. All 20 of the CL600s sold in less than 8 minutes on Nov.14" Now thats hot folks!

*-talk about HOT, the new Mercedes S-Class rated the highest in the "Got to have it" catagory among all the latest luxury cars.
