Re: In detail, New CL Class (Thread 6 Cont'd)

First I have to say that I have been a big fan of the interior of the Bentley continental GT ever since the first time I saw it. Looking at the pictures of it and the the pictures of the interior of the CL one can see some clear distinctions. Although the CL has excellent interior quality(assuming it is the same as the S) The Bently has one of the most details interior on the market.

Both cars can be seen as the Zonda and the Carrera GT. Meaning that the Zonda interior is more of a hate or love interior. I know quite a few people who don't like the interior of the Bentley beacuse of all the amount of wood chrome details. Although some might love it others might think of it as tacky and too busy.

The other major difference is the era which the cars were manufacturerd. The CL is from the new era of interiors were the front console consists of almost only a screen and a some sort of a jog. while the Bentley has a very mid 90s-ish interior with lots of buttons.

personally I like both but with the CL being a slight favorite

NO, NO, NO, Roberto. You must continue to post here anytime you feel like it about whatever. I think you'll find that everyone here enjoys your posts a great deal! I wasn't serious and included a smiley when I said that so I hope that didn't have anything to do with this "decision".

As you know your posts on Mercees-Benz are what keep the rest of MB admirers on an even keel!

Roberto, we all like your posts and enjoy your company! I surely don't want to see you STOP posting! That is not the way to solve anything, truthfully, just dont take every post as if it was directed directly to you. Its just a car, every one see's what they choose to see. Let go some of the posts and dont feel you have to embellish on each response, let ti go sometimes. Its usually the way to maintain sanity.

It's all just bringing out the worst in me.

Don't go away, we all enjoy your posting here.
And I agree with you that the Bentley is more classy but like I've said, different designs conditions. Personally I like both interiors actually.
Hopefully no hard feelings has been taken there, please keep on posting eh, Roberto!
I know on behalf of all of us we all enjoy your presence here no matter what.

Re: In detail, New CL Class (Thread 6 Cont'd)

As for the interior, Bentley has them all beat, its just DIFFERENT! From the British female voice that comes on with voice activation to the creativity and design of the dash, and console.

Its almost like having an acquired taste to "something" better. Something that many dont understand and or dont share the idea of.

Its a hard judgement to make without actually spending sometime in the Bentley GT. It really is "Above The Rest" .

The new CL is really the best in its class IMO as interior design goes. Very cool and understated. Nicest of the Germans... With Audi a close second!

Re: In detail, New CL Class (Thread 6 Cont'd)

just burns my eye looking at it, this car is full of passion..

Quote:
Mercedes’ new S-class-based CL coupe will have more to offer keen drivers than its predecessor, according to a company spokesman, despite being larger, more luxurious and better equipped.

Updated, gutsier versions of the V8 and bi-turbo V12 engines from the outgoing model and the adoption of Active Body Control (ABC) suspension are partly responsible for the transformation.

Styled in-house, the CL features pronounced wheelarches that, from the front three-quarters, lend the big coupe a squat, purposeful stance. It's not going to set the world on fire, however. According to the design team, the top end of the car market demands stylish conservatism, while Mercedes’ corporate design culture demands the sort of longevity that a more radical design couldn’t produce.

For the time being, at least, the ‘base’ engine of the CL range is the 5.5-litre V8 producing 383bhp, a 26 per cent increase over the previous-generation unit. The 5.5-litre twin-turbo V12 range-topper has to make do with a modest 17bhp improvement in power, but with 510bhp and 612lb ft of torque you’re unlikely to feel short-changed. The V8-engined CL500 punts to 62mph in 5.4sec, while the CL600’s V12 dispatches the yardstick in 4.6sec. Both have a top speed limited to 155mph.

The CL is awash with sophisticated electronics, from sensors that measure the size of the parking space you’re hoping to reverse into, to seats that massage you on the move. Many of the electronics control safety functions that range from ‘intelligent’ headlights which automatically change their pattern according to the road you’re driving on, to brakes automatically triggered into partial operation to help you avoid running into a car ahead (see separate story, left).

Mercedes has made a big effort to push the CL's interior ambience closer to that offered by Bentley, with fine-quality leather and an abundance of timber. Details such as the silver-coloured switches on the facia spoil the bespoke effect, but nonetheless the CL’s cabin will be a very cosseting place to ride.

The new CL is expected to go on sale towards the end of the year.
