It sure is. But the rear of the new CL is a new direction, don't u think?

Re: In detail, New CL Class

Yes a little ...but there is a definite hint of CLS crossed with the SLK there.

i guess its a part of the new direction..similar rear can be seen on SLK and the new C class seems to hint the same..

Re: In detail, New CL Class (Thread 5 Cont'd)

I think MB went in a new direction, much like BMW, when they introduced the CLS. The CLS is truly a remarkable car and indeed has shown itself to be.

I thin the S class was an advance in the automotive field as well as it was technological. However, the S class is very interesting indeed. MB tried to keep their move conservative but added spottiness, IMO, with sharp edges giving the car a younger more fulfilling look.

With the CL it seems that the design has carried on a conservative look yet with a CLS design. The Oval shaped front lights are not as sharp as the S class showing that the car is not really going to be appealing to the younger crowd as it is for the older golfer type of guy. This of course is my opinion and that is my disclaimer.

Well I'm not entirely sure about that BMWFREAK ...but lets remember that the biggest market for this car is probably over 50 years old.

Re: In detail, New CL Class (Thread 5 Cont'd)

I wish BMW would have more pictures showing the evolution of the cars and the whole BMW range in one picture. That one with the evolution of this coupe is a amazing. The interior of this car looks really sharp, quality at its best. However, as I feared, it's the same steering wheel, which I'm not really a fan of.

I cannot wait to see this car with higher end rims, this car is easily my favorite Benz right now.

While i like the new CL i 'm a bit disappointed with the interior cause i was expecting it to be better (design-execution ect.) than the one of S class.

Of course you will have your corss over cars or crossover customers where indeed they may vary in age and will find such a car appealing.

However, I truly think that MB has changed their thinking when it comes to the S class. Personally the 'sportiness' of the new flagship is not entirely MB. It is going with the new design perspective with sharp edges, truly, the car is appealing to me. In addition to this, I think it may begin to grab some in the market for an upper class E. Why not jump into the S if I can get it?

For the CL, however, I think that MB is keeping with the traditional CL, which is not what they did with the S, as I mentioned before. The CL is still retaining its convservative roots with an evolutionary design. Indeed it is very nice and appealing, but it will simply be the newer CL to those older CL owners. They won't be looking at the car the way the older S class car owners did or will. I think the CL owners will look at this car and think 'wow! Very nice. It has grown up to be a nicer more elgant car.' However, it might as well been MB's intention to do what I just said.

Remember, this is what I think and I am probably entirely wrong.
