Re: 2007 CL-Class

They really should bring Brunno back on special designs like the CL, considering what a fine job he did with the current CL. The current car is arguably his best work apart from the W124 and R129 models.

This CL is going to look pretty much like a larger CLK, not a bad thing, but nothing stunning either.

I agree, i really feel that this car has to be set apart from the rest of the models to hold its significance as what it is, and not look like a mini-me of another current model. Hopefully at the end it will work out that way, i reall hope it doesn't get the W221 rear....

Well we are basing it on the spyshots and info so far... personally i seem to believe Huck. He's usually precise. But we are simply saying what we would like to see...

Re: 2007 CL-Class

I'm expecting the interior to be a lot like the CLS's. The dashboard of the CLS is subtly reminiscent of the 280SE/300SE coupe from the 1970's (the predecessor of the CL), especially the large pointed-elipse wood element - even the radio controls have been stylized to vaguely resemble the old Becker radio.

So I take it you find the current CLK to be a stunning design? Until the facelift I really couldn't stand it, unless it had the AMG kit, which the CLK500 does as standard in the U.S. The CLK320 with its little wheels and forgettable design was worst design Mercedes had come up with for a 2-door since I've been paying attention to their cars (since 1986).

The CLK350 looks better and the CLK500 better still, but they aren't in the same league as the CL500 was when it appeared in 2000 and a CL in AMG wear is still Mercedes design perfection. Only the new CLS looks as good or any better, of course all IMO.

I have yet to see the new S in person.
