It probably doesn't come as a suprise to you guys that cars like the CGT and Enzo are both expensive to buy and to own. This CGT has run 1300miles(!) and has gone through a transplant, to be more precis a clutch change. This isn't that unusual for high performance sportscars and when the job has to be done depends on how the owner has treated the car.
The beutiful thing about this job is that it cost $8000 and as you can see int he pitures the whole engine had to be taken out. Unsuprisingly the cost probably didin't make more than a slight scratch in the owners bank account which probably has more figures than what most calculators can display.

Is this being done by an authorized POrsche dealer? If not why is this happening when the guy should be taking it there for under warranty service?

Or would this not fall under warranty?

Its a bit unclear why the car needed a new clutch. The owner might be a nut who doesn't know how to handle the clutch in a proper manner.

In reference to my question about taking it to an authorized dealer and whether the picture shows that this car is indeed at an authorized dealer is still un answered.

Like I said, I would assume that a car with only 1,300 miles would be dropped off at a dealer to see what suitable procedures can be taken to fix the car.

Cool post. It's kind of wierd to see the CGT's engine proped up on 2x4's like that. I would have expected it to be hung by some machine made of exotic materials and surrounded by guys in lab coats punching away at their calculators.

Looking at the wall in the first picture the car seem to have been in a Audi/Porsche dealer which seem to have been in business since 19XX(can't read, too blury). Additionally this seem to be a very precise job which makes me beleive that it can only be properly done by an authorized dealers and the fact that it would be stupid to take a 400K car to an unauthorized dealer.

Point well taken. Of course I understand that new cars have warranties etc., but there are some cars, Porsches among them that are really expensive to maintain. It is possible that the owner of this car can easily afford the maintenance but then again, maybe not. Who knows, maybe the person was someone who could barely afford it and still went and bought it because he wanted so badly. I could very well identify with such a person.
I know that the members of this forum are well aware of these facts but I'll mention this in any case: Never mind the CGTs and other exotics, recently I've been checking service records of a 1989 Porsche 911 Turbo RUF conversion, and in the last 5 years, among the regular few hundred dollar services, there were two services costing $6500 and $5500. To me that would be a lot of money just for services. Most of the money went to labor of course. Both times there was some part that had to be replaced.

Service costs are part of the game- if you drive your car you have to have servicing. I'm happy whenever a severice is less than $1000. Just spent $1400 to fix a small oil leak on my 94 turbo 3.6. I'm expecting brake rotors and pads on the GT3 soon to set me back quite a bit. Had the clutch replaced on my Gallardo at 1100 miles (under warranty).

As expensive as all that is, service for a race car is much more expensive. My 914-6 has cost me about $75,000 to prepare and race (not including track fees, race registrations, transport, etc) in the last 10 months.
