The D3 is a replacement to the D2hs which competes with the 1D Mark III, so if you are thinking that Nikon made a very low megapixel camera you may have to re-think that. About the ISO I am not quite sure. Maybe with Nikon fixing the noise problem they had to sacrifice the ISO 100 in order to attain what they wanted? I am not sure to be honest. We will find out though. I am seeing a lot of Canon guys liking what they see. The best thing of all is that Nikon developed the FF sensor |

There is no crop factor as seen with the 400D or D200 for example. Canon makes FF sensors as well as thei APS ones. Apparently a FF sensor is bigger, badder, and does incredible with noise. Additionally the quality is incredible. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Nikon D3 & D300 are official! Not at all. That does not make any sense. The ISO is reached by a bump. That is all. Why would Nikon spend the time and energy to add an "X" to D300 and simply have it go down to ISO 100? That doesn't make any sense whatsoever. The next camera to come out of Nikon will either be a D4, D3x, etc. that will replace the current D2Xs. The D3 is replacing the D2hs which is a competitive sports camera like the EOS 1d Mark III. |

![]() | Re: Nikon D3 & D300 are official! A slew of new cameras and much discussion on both the Canon and Nikon dpreview site. However, specs are deceiving and it is the image that makes a picture. I am impressed by both the D300 and the 40D. Both will be great tools for us and others to shoot better pics. Most (and I mean 80% or more) will not know whether our pics are shot with a Canon or Nikon or whether it is with the oldest or newer models. I find most of the discussion on dpreview right now to be a waste of bandwidth. No one has shot an image with any of these new cameras, yet they all claim one is better than the other. A Ford has great specs as does Mercedes, but you have to drive one to really tell the difference. However with that said, and with 5 EF/EF-S Canon lenses in my closet, I have pre-ordered a 40D to replace my 20D. Not because I think my IQ will improve that much or that I will have less noise at 3200, but because of the new features like the larger Live View LCD, AF improvements, etc. Cameras are like cars when it comes to brand loyalty and I am sure most Nikon and Canon users will end up staying with what they have already. Just my opinion... ![]() (I am really confused on GCZ and Curb Zone relationship and posting? I have NevadaJack on GCZ and some time ago registered on CZ with a different ID. When I made the above post, I was shuttled to CZ and had to sign in under my CZ ID. Very confusing stuff.) Last edited by summerbenz; 08-24-2007 at 07:40 AM. |
