BMW signed strategic partnership with Intel

Intel, BMW confirm technology, marketing partnership

12.15.2005, 01:06 AM

AFX News Limited

HONG KONG (AFX) - Intel Corp and BMW AG confirmed an earlier report, saying they have formed a technology and marketing partnership, which includes Intel's sponsorship of BMW's Sauber Formula One racing team.

Financial terms of the deal are not being disclosed, but the Wall Street Journal said in its earlier report that major racing sponsorships often reach tens of millions of dollars.

Intel will deploy its technology in BMW data centers and with BMW dealers, and BMW will use laptop computers with Intel's Centrino technology. They will also work together on putting phones, music players and other gadgets into BMW cars.

Star&Car will become famous soon enough
Re: BMW signed strategic partnership with Intel

I kind of get confused. The "Sauber" will still be inserted into the team's official name?

Yeah, same here. Does anyone know how mayn shares BMW bought? There's probably a good reason why it's called BMW Sauber F1 Team instead of only BMW F1 Team...

Is Sauber a Malaysian racing company of some sort? Or am I terribly mistaken...

I was gonna say the same thing... alas AMD is bed with Ferrari, while Intel hasn't fully committed to a team yet (besides being a small sponsor to Toyota).

Re: BMW signed strategic partnership with Intel

I think keeping the "Sauber" is good choose for BMW. Since Sauber do have some good history and fans. Keeping the name can give BMW more values and attention.

beside, I think the team is confirmed the name of BMW Sauber F1 to FIA already, so don't think it will change after Jan.

Meh, the name Sauber means absolutely NOTHING when you see it next to BMW for some 'good history and fans'. Keeping the Sauber name sounds very cheap to me. Ditch it fast please!
