Arrow BMW and Turbo: Yes or not?

the question is clear:
BMW and Turbos: Yes or No?

As for me, i am confused. For me BMW stands for great cars, always with n/a engines. Don't know why, but for me BMW=n/a. But a turbo makes a big difference. More HP, more torque, better acceleration, etc. I'm not a die-hard BMW fan, but my answer in NO. I wouldn't like to see a 320ti (like the 2002ti) or even a M5 turbo.

Re: BMW and Turbo: Yes or not?

I dont care. Its good to have both options.

Turbo isnt something new for BMW and I know BMW been talking about using Turbo for many years now. So Im not surpised its here again.

Re: BMW and Turbo: Yes or not?

I said yes...
But only if it stays to the core models and not ///M (because that means ///M is a synonym of NA)
And the other thing is that as long as we still get high revving engine, i'm ok.

Re: BMW and Turbo: Yes or not?

If they continue to produce their fanatastic N/a engines. However, a turbo engine will never have the nobility of a great atomospheric engine.

Re: BMW and Turbo: Yes or not?

The thing we forget is that part of the BMW pedigree is also the handling. The reason a Benz will never be a BMW is because it is more tuned for comfort and vice versa. Therefore, if BMW offers an elastic turbo engine with extremely good handling, we are in for some seriously beasty cars.

Re: BMW and Turbo: Yes or not?

if 335ci get less torque than M3 E46, then forget about Turbo for bimmers. So I wont vote until I see the specs.

i like NA engines better than anything else, but if the turbo system has 0 lag, then i'm fine with that too.

Re: BMW and Turbo: Yes or not?

The BMW diesels has turbos so why don't they put turbos on the petrol engines as well?
To be honest, I kind of agree that BMW should be N/A, it's always has been like that before. Having an petrol engine with a turbo is kind of losing their identity.
However the turbo does give alot of extra boost and advantages, personally I won't mind if they putted a turbo in the weaker 4 cylinder petrols engines of BMW. That's ok but as a BMW, please let the turbo stay away from the 6,8,12 cilinders engines but especially the M-engines.
