***Museum Speyer Aircraft Pictures (Part III)***

Here's the last aircraft picture part of my Speyer trip.

Boeing 747-230 in service of Lufthansa. It was commissioned in 1978 and served until 2002. It is estimated to have flown 4,912,000 people since 1978 around the world, travelled over 80,000,000 kilometers and 100,000 hours at an average speed of 800 km/h.

Mil Mi-14

The forward fuselage section of a Dornier Do-24 seaplane.

Junkers Ju-52/3m. This plane flew supplies from Germany to Narvik via Oslo in 1940 to supply German troops during the invasion. Since there was no suitable landing strip the plane was forced to land on a frozen lake. Since there was no fuel available for a return trip, the aircraft was abandoned and eventually attacked by RAF fighters (bullet holes are visible). The wreck was left alone and sank into the 75m deep lake where it lay for 46 years until being salvaged in 1986.

Polish agricultural aircraft from the Communist era. Forgot the name, something with "L" I think...

Mil Mi-8

Now this was an interesting plane. My sister had a book on the Museum Speyer which was printed by the museum itself and it talked about this airplane, vaguely. Now my memory might be a bit shakey but if I recall correctly it is a Dornier and was built in 1943 or 1944 in two prototype forms. Problem is I can't find jack about this plane on the internet, Wiki or even the official Speyer Museum website! Anyone know what exactly this plane is?

Hope you liked the pics!

D-FOXY is an EKW C-3605.

Due to the lighter weight of the turboprop engine, the nose had to be lengthened substantially. After flying with the Swiss Air Force as C-535, it became N7129V, and finally D-FOXY.

Great pictures Christian!! Thanks for sharing!

The cockpit of the 747 is really "old-fashioned" compared to the new cockpits for two pilots without the flight engineer!
